Hi guys...need some assistance :tiptoe:
My dad has a X1 2.0D (N47)...a while back the boost pipe (Part no.2 in diagram) developed a tear and due to there being no stock in SA, we had a second hand pipe taken from a 120d fitted (slightly different irc...the original one was stiffer)....
Anyway, the replacement lasted quite some time, however the pipe is wrapped with some steel wire (like the pic below)...the wire seemed to have moved about and poked into the pipe:skit:...under inspection, it didnt look like it went all the way through the rubber...so we had removed some of the wire and taped up the sharp edges as well as did a temp patch up over the hole while we figure out what to do with the pipe (its been about 2 months now, and no signs of any leaks).
Stealers want 5k for the pipe and must wait for it to come from Germany, I dont particularly want to put another second hand one...so are there any other options? Fabricate from stainless steel? (will the engine vibration be a problem) or maybe theres aftermarket performance pipes that can be fitted? Or does anyone have one lying around?
What have you guys done?:hammerhead:
