N46 B20B chip tune

Hi guys,

So I've been doing some research trying to actually find the downside to doing a chiptune.

According to the information I've read, you could gain an extra 7 to 8kw, which is more than enough, as it would also increase NM's.

What are the downfalls of doing a chiptune?
What kind of strain would the motor encounter if I were to follow through with chipping my car?

I look forward to all the feedback and critics, as I noticed there are quite a lot of guys who are critically honest on this forum :smilebounce:

Do you have any hardware mods? I had a e46 318i with the n46b20 motor, did a 57mm exhaust, stock branch. So mayb look at doing an exhaust and myb a cold air intake, then fit a chip or software.

The plan was to get better fuel economy and a bit more responsiveness from low-revs, as I felt fuel economy wise it could do better and also it could do better performance wise

When i did the exhaust it made a difference low down. Do an exhaust and software or a chip, if you not happy u can always put the stock exhaust back and re tune. Just check there is an old post. Chip or tune for these motors dont make a big difference of the performance side, not sure if it helps on the fuel ecomomy side. Where about are you based?
