N42B20 and N46B20

what is the difference between the N42B20 and the N46B20 engines found in the E46 models?

N46 is a revised version of the n42, the motors look the same except n46 is more powerful producing 110kw and n42 produces 105kw

n42 produced in the years 2002-2003 in the models,318i, 318ti, 318ci (overseas)
n46 produced in the years 2004-2005 in the models,318i, 318ti, 318ci, 120i

both are crap valvetronic sh*t......expect them to rattle...you'd be better off with an M43 engine than either of those

my 2004 318i M Sportpack has the n46B20. but the owners handbook shows that it has 105kw.
