n42 cuts out while driving

Car cut out 3 times today I really need some help here. My 318i has suddenly developed a big problem. When driving engine is warmed up, in any gear on any day will just cut out whilst on the move or at standstill. Before it goes i get a beep, then the battery light comes on along with the traction control light and the handbrake light which goes from red to yellow. Engine swings over but does not run, after about ten minutes it runs fine again and when warm does the same thing again!

Can it be the dme relay camshaft or crank sensor? I do not want to buy uneccessary sensors and that is not the problem!

Those errors that pop up are an indication of low voltage in the modules.

Battery, altenator, onboard kitten holder.

One of the 3.

Could just be a loose strap somewhere.

sounds like a low voltage issue, the reason it starts up a little while later is coz the battery has built up a little charge. then as you drive it will slowly run down again and start the issue again. try driving with your lights on and when it cuts out turn them off and see if she fires up again.

how does the battery build up charge when it runs down and the car is switched off?

defnitely low voltage, i have also notice at least once when the climate control and the dash switched off completely for a few seconds.

Problem solved, it was the crank sensor, replaced along with the oil separator, thank you.
