Ok so last night I finish up the my towbar for my touring and all is WORKING :joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy:
This has been a long mission. All start in March when I bought the car.
Getting a towbar for a e39 touring is a hard to find and which made it worse is i wanted a detachable towbar. so after few months of search internationally I found a brink towbar in uk-ebay. but not trailer module. I bought it non the less. When it got here 2 of the brackets was not in there. I contact the guy and he say that he noticed and is sending them on his cost.
Then the mission for the electronics started. It was needed as I have PDC and the trailer module switch of the rear pdc when something is connected. After some search a ex-forum member said he is removing is towbar and I can have the module. After few weeks of nag him to actually get it out his car and posting it to him he finally sent it with postnet. Somehow it took them 4 week to get a parcel from jhb to cpt.
I open the parcel and find the module but the wiring and connector not there. I call him and he then blame his wife for not sending it all. He said he will post the rest asap. nagging few weeks he finally say he sent it. Thats about 2 months ago and still have nothing. Cant reach him he never sent me the tracking as he said he would. So I write it of as school money.
Meaning while I always keep an eye on gumtree and spot a e46 break up that has a towbar. I phone and yes it has all module etc but have to take module wiring towbar all as packag e. so I gave in and bought all.
So now to install it. The hard part as the data line that needs to go from the back to the light module in front.
Now all is and all works. So happy and I was able to keep looking.
So now I have a E46 towbar and e38/e39 trailer module that i have no use for.
