Been a while since I posted anything here...

After a series of events (read: stupidity) I found myself behind the wheel of a Suzuki Swift Sport (ZC33S - 1.4T) which in itself is a lovely vehicle and can't be faulted for anything. However, the customer service from our local Suzuki dealer and Suzuki SA in general is atrocious...but that's a story for another day. Anyway, the hunt was on to get back into a BMW, particularly a diesel variant as I'm acquainted with the platform and confident with the customer service of our local dealer, which has tremendously improved over the years. As some may know, I came across a manual 420D being advertised at Auto Alpina Randburg. @Benji had a look at the vehicle which turned out to be not as clean as I had hoped...and I see it is subsequently being advertised at a rather dodgy looking dealership...

Anyways on to the main reason for this thread, I came across another Tanzanite Blue F32 420D which was advertised at Carzuka in Bedfordview. While I was a bit apprehensive about the dealership, I did my homework and due diligence and vindocs provided a ton of info, which was backed up by @Coisman . The price dropped a bit while I was making up my mind and the stars aligned. Thanks to @Coisman for doing the background checks and to @Benji for viewing the initial vehicle, I now find myself enjoying a F32 420D which I believe is going to be the last car that I buy... đŸ‘€ so on to the mandatory specs:

2019 BMW 420D (F32) - LCi
6spd Manual transmission
MSport
19" 704M wheels - eventually want to change these to 437M's
Tanzanite Blue Metallic
Individual Kashmir Beige merino leather interior
Hi-Fi speaker system
M/Plan until Sept 2024

The good:
B47 motor which is surprisingly frugal in this big body
6spt M/T
Tanzanite Blue Metallic - really pops when it's clean:love:

The bad:
Tanzanite Blue Metallic - really difficult to clean
Swirl marks for days - my December leave plans have been made for me
Seats are in need of a deep clean
No PDC/reverse camera - parking is an adventure
In comfort mode the car feels very much like a boat

The quirky:
In sport mode the 'box has an auto rev match function when gearing down
This color is pretty weird in that in presents differently in terms of visual color in different light conditions

On to some mandatory pics ;)

Congrats bud! Glad you went for that one eventually. Very nice blend of enjoyment, looks, frugality and performance (after a remap of course)

These are a scarce and they hold their price somehow even being manual but the colour combo is really great, I always admire this colour.

Congrats bud, may you have many happy kms!

Love the colour....if/when you do paint correction consider doing the interior also...Gtechniq does an interior leather protector/guard that will help with maintenance on the light colour.

It's been some time since I've updated this thread...mileage is around 103xxxkm with an oil service just completed last week, with motorplan having expired last year September. I had a few items attended to while the car was under plan, the biggest of which was the clutch-flywheel assembly. This was replaced due to grease which was found to be leaking from the flywheel DMF flywheel casing/assembly. The B47 can't be faulted, only gripe I have is the ratio between 1st and 2nd gear which sees me having to exercise my left leg very often in high traffic situations. Other than that, I've enjoyed quite a few long distance trips over the last 2 years or so. In the meantime we've been blessed with a little one so something more practical is on the cards, whether that is a 330d/X3 or a small sensible run around...only time will tell. Travelling with a baby in a coupe has turned to be not such an arduous task, it does take careful and creative planning though when packing đŸ¤£

Mods:
Shortly after collecting the car, Firi was contacted for a C/F M-Sport boot spoiler which in my opinion really completed the rear end. While difficult to capture on camera it really looks amazing irl. I'm still two minded wrt either a C/F or G/B front splitter đŸ«¥

Other mods include:
Black out badges

Dual slat grilles - yet to be fitted

Future mods:
Yellow DRLs
Front splitter - in a dilemma over this

Tanzanite till today, gives me a whiplash!
Seen this similar color on the F82 M4 as well and hot damn!
One of the best colors on a BMW, it just pops and goes so well with the color combo and mods you have done so far.
