My Superboss Turbo

So Oct marked 11 years that I own the car, its a 1992 superboss, estoril blue. I am the 3rd Owner of the car.
Since owning the car its been through a lot of changes.
This was the car when I got it.

The car was stock standard, it just had a branch and exhaust, car ran well, but after 3 weeks, it ran bearings and that's when the nightmares started, had a mechanic in Ladysmith that worked on the car, and it was just issue after issue, and in the process I went through 2 GM heads, one was from OPEL ASAP and that head was over skimmed, bought another head and that lasted around 3months before that head broke.
It was then that I decided to scrap this whole idea of fixing there car in ladysmith and towed the car up to JHB where I had JMS re-do the entire motor, new head, re-bored the block, new pistons, M3 Throttle bodies, 4Fogger Nitrous with a NOS RPM Activator, Found a CosCast head that was flowed ported and match ported to the adaptor plate, changed the cams to 288Shricks, high rev kit(titanium retainers etc etc), 63MM TNT exhaust one box(it roared like a lion lol), a custom plenum was made for the throttle bodies, a MR Turbo fuel management took care of the fueling and a full MSD Ignition 6AL was installed.
This was the end result

Stevens workmanship and attention to detail is amazing.

It wasn't long after that when I decided to relocate to JHB and found myself at Turbo Boost Tech (Dion Kitchenbrand) where we fiddled a bit and decided to remove the plenum and fit the Original M3 trumpets which left us with this

the car got much louder and the throttles screamed like a bike..
this pic was taken at Wesbank, this was the last event they held before they tore the place apart..

Not too long after all of this, some retard decided to key the car and I was forced to re-spray the entire car, was really disappointed as the car was never sprayed.

this was the car after been sprayed, just a few odds and ends were left to put onto the car before I picked it up..

Anyway it was long after that, when I popped the motor with the nitrous, and had to replace pistons.. And then after that the veriner pulley broke and that then bent valves and then I decided to change over to RSi throttles and take off the M3 throttles with NOS

This is wat it looked like

The car went well, much louder than the M3 throttles, but I didn't even get the opportunity to run this setup on the dyno when I had a sweet deal to swop the existing motor for a turbo setup, so this was the motor before been shipped off..

So I needed to buy a lot of stuff as the motor was only coming with the forged block, head, intake and a few side parts, I still needed to buy the normal stuff, intercooler, turbo, waste gate etc etc..

so off it went for the intercooler and boost pipes, this was done on a real tight budget at the time to accommodate the turbo that I wanted.. The turbo was bought from Fastec, a hybrid T3T4 turbonectics/Garrett

Jans branch manifold with my excel wastegate

76mm boost pipes

this was a pic at the car wash after been tuned

Then it broke  story of my life..
the head that we had on the motor originally went porous, and we replaced it with another GM head which was stripping the cam cap bolts which was smacking the tappet cover, long story short, whilst tuning, it broke due to lack of oil and was back to square one, so it was a complete re-build, this time, we found a virgin CosCast head, decided on supertech pistons..

Car is currently making 171wkw @ 0.6bar on pump fuel.
On street tyres with no LSD at Tarlton the car ran 14.1 @ 169km

here are some random pix
not too long after the re-spray

after the turbo setup

after a nice polish

after the 76mm exhaust from power pipes

Since the pix I have done a few upgrades, I have removed the Xcel Waste gate and fitted a Turbonetics Waste Gate, fitted a set of 1000cc injectors, Warlbo Fuel pump, AutoMeter Boost Gauge...

Still have loads to do on the car
So I had the car tuned some time ago, made a 290wkw on the wheels at 1bar with 476nm...

I have replaced springs and shocks all round and replaced front wheel bearings and hubs..

I have fitted HnR springs(really soft spring, will be replacing it) and went to tarlton this fri..
Car ran a 12.9 @ 183km/h

the clutch is in its moer and the tyres were completely DEAD...

will be removing the clutch this weekend and sending it in for an upgrade, will also be replacing tyres this weekend..

here are a few pix of what it looks like with the HnR spring

You must be quite the serious opel fan to stick with it even though it breaks at every turn...nice writeup.

Thanks guys for the comments

Yeah it has been a struggle with this car, and the amount of money piled into the car, i would never get it back, it was a gift from my dad for my 19th birthday, so selling it was never an option for me really.

Hahahahahahahaahhaa yessss Rhett the madir did tow me, the car towed well man...

got a few things planned for the car this year, a full strip down and respray by march i hope, it is starting to get rust around the rear windscreen(common fault on these cars)

invested in some HnR coilovers that need to be fitted next week as the existing springs and shocks are not stiff enuf and the car flexes when u lanuch it hard, and then i need to fit bigger fuel lines add a second pump and bump up the boost a bit, but the plan is to keep it looking stock and keep it clean..

I was a serious opel fan, but after this car, i will never touch another opel again!!!! i was happy with the Audi A3 i had... DSG was awesome, but the E88 120d coop is a birlliant lil machine, and the fuel economy is fantastic

All that power through an open diff, can you say 'torque steer'?
Must be a handful even at moderate throttle inputs...

hahahahaha dont waste your money on a FWD turbo car MO...

RWD is the way forward, FWD putting the power down gets expensive, not really fun to drive, more of a work out than anything else,

hahahahahahahaha exactly man, EXACTLY!!!!

and the torque steer makes it feel much faster, when you take ppl for a spin they feel like you doing 300km/h but to be honest i would love to have this setup on a RWD car
