Hi Guys, been a while since I posted on the forum due and am even longer time since i sat behind the wheel of a Bimmer....long story short, life played a real sh!tty hand and basically lost it all, but slowly getting back there and after being carless for 4 years, got to purchase a car again.

Granted old, but she is still in good nick, has a couple issues, but got it for a steal so could not say no.....and tired of government transport...lol...

Will take more pics later after a wash and interior clean....

Welcome back bud.

I'm sure you'll come to realize that E46's are really special cars. There are known issues on the E46 platform and specifically the 318i, so make sure you have those checked out when you get a chance. Preventative maintenance is key with these cars as they are getting on in years.

Wish you many miles of smiles

Agreed on preventative maintenance as well as regular services.

What model is this one?

I would look at the cooling system first, pipes become very brittle on these over time.

See my response on the other thread, regarding the cooling system :biglol:

Agree on regular services - BMW service intervals of 20k is madness and causes sludge build up, I service mine every 10k. I would suggest you do an oil flush or 2 (change oil + filter, run the car for around 5k and change out again), if the previous owner was running long intervals.

Give us more info on the car... Mileage, previous work done, etc.

So car has 209000km on the clock, last service was @ 185000km. So far i have changed the oil filter, fuel filter, air filter, oil and plugs.

Also did both control arms as the left side ball joint had seen better days.

Congratulations!

318i would make great daily, yes valve stem seals and valve tronic motor might give issues but anything beats public transport.
