Hi Guys,

So after reading about Prash at Precision Glaze on one of the posts i knew i had to get my car there.
Long story short i took a gamble and bought a low mileage N55 E93 335i in Cape Town from a reputable dealer.
Flew down and rove the car back up.
Didn't realize the paint work was in such bad shape, lots of swirls and scratches.
Messaged Prash and he said he could help:)

Prash advised I go for Option 3 (R2490), which involved:

 • Premium Wash which includes the following:
 • Ultimate foam wash & dry
 • Mag wash (Excludes deep mag cleaning and polish)
 • Tyre shine dressing (non-silicon)
 • Interior vacuum & window wipe
 • Dash and trim dressing
 • Air Freshener
 • Clay application (removes above surface bonded contaminants)
 • Machine compound (removes swirl marks and light paint defects/scratches)
 • Machine polish (restores color and depth)
 • Machine Glaze (achieve a deep, glossy, wet look finish)
 • 12 month paint protection
Prash was super professional and I highly recommend them.

I don't have any before pictures but i can promise you its like night and day.
The car looks brand new.
See pictures below.

Please if you need a detail, go to Precision Glaze. Tell them i referred you :)

Glad you were sorted bud. Saw the before and after in person, massive transformation! :praise:
Prash is a good friend so I'm there at least once or twice a week  :)

Paintwork looks really good now. Congrats on the new wheels!

Looks really good! From past reviews they are quality detailers indeed...

For interests sake, how many detailers have you tried in JHB?

I've been wondering which detailer to consider when the time is right.
Precision Glaze is just down the road from me, will certainly consider them when I need to get a vehicle detailed.

Looks great! How long does the car continue to look like that after a detail?
I assume it would depend on the a few factors such as whether the car is exposed to the elements and how often you wash it etc?
Although on average?

It all depends on products used  and how you maintain it. It can be 2 weeks or 24 months LOL

I was going to say, it can be all undone in one bad carwash and subsequent car washes( Especially if you use those drive through car washes etc) .

The maintenance afterwards is the most important..

all of that hard work can be un done by just 1 wash at a car wash if they are using the incorrect/dirty cloths to wash the car.. that's why I only wash my car myself and even then I only get about 10 months longevity from a ceramic coating before my OCD kicks in and I get it re done again.. my car is also black though so any swirls are easily seen compared to a white/silver car etc.

Yes Prash said the same thing. Cannot use a Chamois etc on the car, this will cause swirls.
He did say you can use a normal carwash, but it needs to be a good one that knows all of this.

Speaking about good car washes, can anyone recommend a good one around Sandton side?
Regards

They all 'off' days - best is to just do it yourself or if Prash offers a maintenance wash option then go that route.

I was actually thinking of offering this service to guys (though in Midrand) but I don't think I could make the numbers work or scale it - I would rather not disappoint people or deal with people who don't want to pay to have the right spray sealant used or have the car blow dried etc. Everyone talks like they care but (even on here) but very few actually do. I also have nightmare stories from guys who are actual detailers about clients to come in with a 'detailed' car that then has all of the filler washed out of it and then they get blamed by the customer... same for scratches or swirls etc.

Sandton Car Spa is one option for you if they are still around (at the shell on Rivonia Rd close to Sandhurst). When I lived in Sandton and my complex decided that they didn't want people to wash their cars anymore, I used to go there.

Do the math on a good wash kit (Pressure washer, cannon, 2 bucket system, mitt, drying towel, microfibres and a dedicated vacuum) together with some good products. Consider paying R100 a week or every 2 weeks and see how long it would take to pay out having your own stuff and the peace of mind that comes with it.

Offering maintenance washes is a tough one, I for one wouldn't mind paying for a wash using the proper techniques on those days that I can't wash the car myself, however convincing others to pay more than R100 for a car wash has proven difficult. Then considering the effort and time you will put in versus the reward and it's difficult to justify.

Prash does my maintenance washes so just go back to him every week or two weeks.
It's a small price to pay considering a decent ceramic coating sets you back R6-7k and unless you have the time and space to wash yourself which is first prize, next best thing is getting it washed at a proper detailer than undoing the time, effort and money that went into the detail.

This is actually very true.
The maintenance after your detail is super important.

I also don't go to any car washes because of this. All the ones closest to me i watched, and quiver at the sight of the guys washing the car.
Or dropping the cloth on the floor, then simply picking it up and washing the car i see they don't even rinse the bucket before filling it with water again to re wash the next car.

i actually left the queue of the car spa at wanderers after seeing this. would rather lose an hour of my Friday or Sunday, then have swirl marks from hell.

Plus the satisfaction of the foam that a new wash mit plus a good car shampoo gives, as well as seeing the water beading on your car is all too satisfying.

And big ups on your Coupe, looks stunning after the detail!

His website pricing for a premium wash for a hatch, sedan or single cab is R160 - I would pay that with a smile to maintain my car once its had a detail done - what a bargain. Wish I had a place like that near us in the East Rand area for the times I just don't have the time to wash my car myself - which I usually do.
