Its a car, a mechanical vehicle with many many mechanical parts and things go wrong, be it at 400 000km or two weeks into ownership.

Complain complain will just screw up any relationship you had with your dealer, ask for a loan car (which they will give you) and let them fix it.

It happens, no need to request a new car etc - Obviously if it happens again then get upset but for now its not really the end of the world.

I somewhat agree, I have never been someone to complain either, but they tend to take advantage of ppl (they being the service industry in general).

Ok... My fuel pump will be in S.A +- 27 Nov 2012. BMW is doing their best in helping me and support me with a car till my car is fix.

Same thing happened to me when I bought my car this year I also got stuck in the middle of the road and it was the fuel pump I had to also wait for the part to come from Germany - this is a common issue with the new 1 series. Not a good thing as you buy a car brand new and don't expect this. The good news is once it is sorted there are no issues at all. Good luck and make sure they give you a courtesy vehicle for this time.

Wow, really a disappointing thing to have happen! A fuel pump issue is unfortunate but can happen and does not reflect on the overall condition of the rest of the car - so as said above, demanding a new car is not worth the effort and not really going to gain you anything going forward, certainly in terms of relationship with the dealer etc. Enjoy the loaner while you wait for the new part to arrive! These F30's are looking better and better the more I see them on the road!!

Just a tip for what it's worth with regards to fuel pumps, and this counts pretty much for all of our cars - but make sure to NEVER let the fuel level drop too low such that the fuel pump is at risk of taking in air! With the E90's they say never let the range to empty drop below 50 km for instance. And this is of course more noteworthy if your driving routes include steep inclines etc! Not saying that this is the cause for this pump failing (doubt this would be the case with such low mileage), but can happen later on...

The x35 motors had to go through so many pumps before they fixed it...looks like the new 1 series is going through the same troubles...eish

This was even the case for the e46. IIRC corretly this is stated in the e46 owner's manual.:thumbs:

when I got my car back I also had a hectic smell of fuel, just leave you windows open when you parked in a safe place etc, after two days the smell goes away and you get the new leather smell once again, dont stress it goes away and you dont loose the new leather smell.

APr your car in the garage, open up all the windows, get a large bowl and pour a few cups of white vinegar into it...dont be shy, the more vinegar the better.

Leave that overnight.

then go to the garage and buy yrself an air freshener thingie for the car.

Try this out (it really works for anything like freshly painted rooms, etc)...get an onion, take off the outside leaves, cut it in half and put it in bowl of some water (don't let the water cover the onion completely, jut a little to keep it moist) and leave it in the car overnight. Smell should be drastically reduced in the morning and gone if you leave it for a day or two.
