My first Porsche

Hi Gents,

Thought I would do a little update after a few months of having the Cayman.

I previously mentioned that the car felt quite unrefined - turns out the engine mount needed replacement. This became even more obvious when I started noticing a "thud" when changing gears. I booked the car at Porsche Centre Umhlanga to have this replaced, and wow - it feels like a completely new car, the vibrations and "rawness" that I assumed were normal for a 987 are no longer. The car is now driving like an absolute dream.

I also had an issue with a bit of a creak/groan when turning at low speeds - initial thoughts were that it may be suspension related, a deep dive into some Porsche forums pointed towards power steering fluid running low - a quick fluid top up and the issue was sorted!

On the negative side, I'm not using the car as often as I had hoped. I travel often for work, and work from home the rest of the time, so often find myself taking the car for a spin purely to keep the battery charged and the fluids moving.

The idea of Porsche ownership has always been a romantic one, but in reality, not entirely practical, not at this stage of my life in any case. I either need to make more effort to drive it, or consider letting it go to somebody who will get more use out it. You guys will be the first to know!

The market for these cars is strong and will likely get stronger in future. This is a modern classic.
Only sell it if you need to free up the capital.
Else keep it, enjoy it when needed and watch it appreciate over time.
Watch DasCayman on YouTube and get some inspiration to savour the most of the car, even if you hardly drive it.
