I wanted an F01.
The N55 is not my first choice in BMW engines, as I have either driven large V8 Bmw's or big diesels,
From the start, I am going to say that I miss the torque, I honestly do.
Driving the 530d or my dads 3.5d X5 I really miss the torque, I am used to 600Nm+
However, I also really like gadgets, and I would like to own a BMW with every single additional option checked.
However, to this car I could not say no too. It really is a gadget car, which I will demonstate
The body pictures are terrible, I will ask crash whom I am sure I will see next week, to do some nice exterior shots, but here we go with my shitty little camera.
So here we go
Now for some gadgets
Rear entertainment with its own DVD, navigation, and a cool remote
So daughter sorted.
Now toys in front
Night Vision,
Lane Departure,
Collislion avoidence
Active Seats
which means that you push a button and you get a butt massage, basically it constantly adjusts the base of the spine so you dont get tired on long trips
Comfort seats
If you know me, this is an absolute MUST Have on any BMW, so much better then anything else,
If you buy a new car, and you only tick one extra, let it be comfort seats....
A bad shot from the front
Active headlights is epic, basically lights adjust according to the steering wheel, so you can see around corners
On the rear lights, a pretty kewl function is that if your doing emergency braking, the rear lights fire up like a xmas tree, and actually start flashing to warn guys behind you,
Night vision with object recognition,
This is pretty kewl, it picks up heat sources, and can recognise humans/animals, and if used, and something is detected, car damm near has a heart attack, and if collision avoidence is enabled, will auto brake for you.
Epic boot space
Finally, a decent Nav system
(pssst, anybody have the latest nav DVD for me)
Finally what I always wanted, a modern BMW that can actually play MP3's, has a hard drive in it, so you can save music to the car, but DVD shuttle plays Mp3's, so how much music do you want...
Side Camera's
Reverse Camera with epic object recognition,
Cluster has Plenty plenty toys
Buttons, lots and lots of buttons
Coolest feature about the car though..
Radar guided cruise control.
This is epic, it really is
You set your speed, the distance you want it to follow the car in front of you, and you forget about it, dont have to touch accellerator or brake, it will maintain the distance.
If a car cuts in front of you, it warns you by shaking steering wheel, auto applies brakes, and resumes distance accordingly. So when I drive to work in the morning, and traffic sucks, i dont have to touch fuel or brakes the entire trip.
Oh an that 8 speed gearbox is phenominal.
So there we go, my new tech rich ride,
A true indication of BMW engineering, and why I dont drive poverty spec entry levels, there are so much more that you can get out of your if you go slightly bigger.
All kinds of other stuff
Logic 7, Integrated active steering, active suspension the list goes on and on and on.
I am looking on what to do with the torque issues, but I plan on keeping this one for a while, so I will probably not touch it, may do a retrofit or two....
Thanks for the read
