So I managed to remove and replace bonnet & boot badges.

Front now looks complete with the black grills & carbon badge :

Looks really good! Been thinking about putting CF roundels on for a while, but then would do the roundels on the wheels as well...

So I recently ordered some goodies from Burger Tuning in the states.

One item in particular is the BMS PowerBox :

20120628_174142.jpg

BurgerTuning Website for more details.

They claim :

• Up to 10+ More Horsepower & 10+ More lb-ft Torque
• Throttle Re-mapping for Better Response / Reaction
• Removes "dead area" delay in gas pedal
• 7 Different Maps / Settings
• Can be turned on and off from inside the car
• Gives even more Power with intake/exhaust or other mods
• Plug & Play, No cutting or splicing

Read tons of reviews and they were all positive

Installation took about 90mins (not 20mins as claimed on the website).

Started off with the bare motor :

Had to strip some items off :

Then you get to the brains of your car :

20120701_153712.jpg

This is the scary part where you have to remove plugs and wires and reconnect and and and...

And eventually end up with this bugger installed :

Thankfully the car started after the install and immediately seemed to rev much better!

Took her out for a long drive and noticed the following :

• Definite increase in throttle response
• Car seems to rev to th limmiter much easier
• Car feels much smoother
• Car feels "faster" due to better throttle response

Now the "tune" needs a couple of days to blend into the car so most improvements should be implemented by the weekend.

For now it seems worthwhile and has some future compatibility with future mods.

When it comes to mods for N/A cars there isn't much, but this one grabbed my attention and so far I feel it's worth it

Hi Theo,

Thank very very much for this review and sharing! And please please let us know how this goes in the coming weeks! One of the major gripes that I have had from day one with my 330i is that of the throttle response being the way that it is as described - have gotten used to it over the years, but it still does trip me out every now and again! Not too worried about power increase, although it wouldn't hurt, but the improved throttle response would be very much welcomed!

Also, has it changed the slight hesitation or dead spot in the mid revs just before the Vanos kicks in?! And then finally, cost more or less?

Oh BTW: just got my Biz Cards from Charles over the weekend! Many thanks, they look awesome!!

It's a pleasure Phillip

Will definately keep you posted. I'm still a little unsure as to when exactly the VANOS kicks in. The car is still a little bit "dead" in midrange rpm's but at least it doesn't feel as if you're standing still or going backwards! It's a smooth even process of going through the revs.

oh yes, and the gear changes are better too! I've always had to time the release of the petrol pedal to the milli second to prevent the car from lurching when changing gears, but now that has also disappeared and it's almost perfect. Not just 100% yet to my liking, but much better!

You can speak to Charles. Apparently Rennzport can supply and help with the installation of the BMS PBX or you can buy it direct from BurgerTuning on their website.

Big thing is not to have unrealistic expectations of this product. It's not a full fledged performance mod, more of an average-but-covers-a-lot-of-bases-for-not-too-much-money mod

Oh, and glad you like the cards!!

Oh okay cool! Stupid, I forgot about Charles - will speak to him about this!! :flyfun:

With mine it seems to noticeably kick in at around 4500 rpm - from low revs up to 3000 rpm is pulls strongly but almost seems to go through a slight slump above this just before the Vanos kicks in, then it goes like hell! So as such, it does give the car a bit of a split personality which is tiring when driving slightly spirited - basically, laid back driving is fine, mad driving is fine, but in between it seems like she can't make her mind up, if that makes sense.

Yep, with the normal throttle, you have to actually almost keep your foot on the throttle between changes to keep the changes silky smooth. In crawl type speeds if you take your foot off the throttle just that milli second too soon you also get a nasty shunt through the drivetrain, also something I have gotten used to, to the point that I do this to my Wife's car and the bakkie and look a bit stupid! :fencelook:

I actually think that this is then the mod that Charles mentioned to me some time ago when I was of course still under motorplan, but now that that is no longer the case...

In most cases I think our cars are less "prone" for mods, so chances are they don't even really look, but not being detectable is good!
