My E34 550i that never was.....Video

Ok, so for the last few years I had this crazy idea I was going to buy a 750il V12 and transplant the entire thing into a E34 bodyshell to make myself Capetowns first E34 550i

After ages searching I finally find this dude who phones me from Wellington selling a LHD 750i, yeah! perfect I think this is just shweet, it's not an il, and has the shorter propshaft, this conversion will be like plug and play (sortof)

Meet this retired German dude at Tyger valley to inspect the car there, he tells me he is NOT driving it back to wellington he's left it parked at Tyger valley parking lot for like two weeks unlocked, even the police have phoned him, it MUST be sold like right now, offers it to me for 10K....Peanuts.

Fine I say, give you the cash tomorrow, but no boet, don't leave the car here, let's take it back to my work around the corner and park it "safe" in the basement there.

I'm the one running , he's the one walking backwards....

Sigh, That was the end of my E34 550i project

But now I know some of you have seen this before, anybody know where this car landed up?

I want the front 4 pot brake calipers, I just discovered they bolt straight onto an E34 540i for a cool brake upgrade?

NOOOO dude ! no !!! ??

lol. that sucks bigtime ! :/

btw, I can get you another M70 engine ? ... if u need one.

I need the whole car for the electronics, throttles, accel pedal, mounting and magodjetjies.

I now have decided to have an expensive fantasy about twin turbocharging that 4.4 M62 engine sleeping quietly in my garage hehe

:) lol... thats an expensive hobby right there. but it will be quite eleet if you also do a twin turbo jobby ?
it seems like you have the same Ideas I have. I was gonna fit an M70 V12 in an E34 also, but I decided then to sell the E34 again, and rather ONLY work on my E39.
and once thats done, get an E92.. :) and fit a very special kind of engine :)

hehe, would love to hear your ideas tho.. if you have any

You do!

Man that sounds interesting, wonder what it would cost, as well as shipping.

How intact is/was it?

I am trying to remember..

motor was there, computer boxes were there, I checked for that.

I think the interior/seats was out, and it still had a gearbox... white in color.

Well was thinking of two Garret T? turbo's real low down where there is space, (near the drivers/passengers feet) get myself a TIG welder and some tubing. The M62 basic engine is extreemly strong, with a forged crank, and decent conrods, so all I would have to worry (I hope) about is pistons. But then they need to be special Iron coated forged pistons.... wouldn't know where to start looking.

Then there's the injection to sort (properly) Detonation is a nasty thing with turbo installs.

But should I just, possibly, maybe ever get this together correctly we could be looking at 550 odd Kw

Now that I could play with

rick540 :) we shall chat soon, abit tired right now. will tell you about places you can get parts and stuff from, if your serious about it..

:) M6X allready have forged sintered steel conrods.. pistons should be ok, its just the cooling of the internals that is a problem and the crank is also fine. but I'm sure you could run low boost without any issues at all. You would need to drop compression and maybe install some oil squirters to keep the pistons cooler, also to make sure the top of the piston is quite thick... but we shall chat soon.

nite nite..

Electron Motor Spares have an E38 750il sitting in their scrapyard. Still has all the things you need, engine, box, wiring, pedal, ECU, propshaft ect.

damn. sorry to hear about the buy man,
What are the chances of that!

Stumbled on this page while doing some research,

Are you still doing the 550i?
Well if you are, then we might make good friends!

I have a V12 E34 and I am already on my 2nd M70 due to a failed first one that the mechanics bastardized.

Just to share, not to disrespect your mishap. hope you'd like it
