So, as part of my degree I'm doing a course -Vehicle Engineering. Pretty cool, all about handling, ride and performance. As part of the curriculum we have to go to Gerotek as a practical. It's compulsory and we get an attendance mark for it. How awesome?!

wow, if you wanna borrow my camera mount & capture some in car footage that you can share with us :)

That actually sounds like a plan Andrew... I was going to use a low quality camera, but if i can use that camera mount I can use my miniDV camera. Which will look great. Would ya mind if I borrowed it? :mmm: :)

No problem.. Just need to organise to get it.

Nice, Mechanical engineering FTW :thumb:, all our compulsory practicals involved hours of tedious work in stuffy underground labs.

@Sankekur: So far this will probably be the only one I enjoyed!

@Twinz: Yeah, I get what you're saying. :)

@MattQ: There is plenty of perkiness on campus, but with the weather being colder and the fact that they're on the other side is campus is just depressing.

Will definitely post video, just need to organise which type.

I would love to, except I'm not allowed to. :( If you're not registered for the course, you can't go... Thanks for the camera mount btw. Still working out the best place to put it in the car...

Was worth a try :)

I usually mount it on the passenger side of the windscreen Hanging upside down. Just need to edit the videos & rotate them after.

Or mount it to the passenger side window that way it can be the correct way around.

Or mount it to the back window facing forwards..

Or mount it to the roof or bonnet :) But if it comes loose & breaks you will buy me a new one & buy yourself a new camera. I have been too scared to try mount it outside the car, even though the suction is pretty tight.

Would be awesome footage, with it mounted low down towards the back of the car, so you get the side & the wheels in the shot..

So after obtaining a mounting bracket (thanks Andrew :thumb: ), I'm not sure which position is best. Anyone have opinions/advice on which inside position and outside position has the best view?

I've decided the following tracks definitely need to have the camera inside the car.

-Double Lane Change
-Skid Pan
-Ride and Handling
-Banked Oval

Outside The Car
-Driving between tracks
-Suspension Track

Positions Inside

Rear Window

These two look the best I would say, but if I were to do it I wouldn't put my camera on the outside of the car, would be to paranoid about it falling off at any moment.

Inside I would use this one as it puts into perspective what the driver and the body of the car is doing.

I was leaning towards these too. :) The outside positions will be at low speed and only really with lateral forces. It is a risk, but will be cool to see...
