Thanks all for the kind remarks.

RGM quote engine output at 169KW and 487nm. Last dyno run was 122 Kw on the rear wheels.

Thanks guys, she really is my pride and joy and nearly everyone who has seen the car asks me if I'll sell. I've been offered 30K above book for her but I'm not selling. I've grown so fond of this car, you won't believe and she's irreplaceable to me.

Little bit of history - Bought her as a 2 year old with 75K on the clock from BMW approved. Have now done 170K and not a single issue with the car from day 1. Had the car modified by RGM after the motorplan expired and the power gains were excellent. Fuel consumption is averaging 7.8 in town driving which gives me 900km on a tank - the car is really economical for a modified 3 litre.
Build quality is exceptional and everything still works perfectly on the car - trust me, if I compare it to my Lumina, it's in a completely different class (power excluded of course).
Had a moment a few weeks back when I considered trading it on a X5 35d but as nice a vehicle as the X5 was, after test driving it, I couldn't help thinking that it was not as well put together or as comfortable as my 5.
So for now I'm holding onto her until I find something better - might take a while:=):

Wow, very nice (bar the sticker on the boot)

I agree, if you are going to hold on to her until you find something better, you might never let go

I have heard of a couple of instances where people "upgraded" to an E60, only to start the search for an E39 again in a month or two... I'm guessing that in the case of the F10, the increase in power might on its own swing the vote, though.

+1
After four years of everyday driving, the e39 still puts a sheepish smile on my face everytime. No wonder I have 2 of them.
Welcome

I have the same car (2003 non m/sport) and slightly more km's (225k) and was wondering about chipping it for a long time now. What kind of driver are you? What i am trying to determine is if you are gentle with the car most of the time and only use the extra power for emergencies, will the car last as long as a car without the modifications?
The gearbox is a big worry. Must say that the gearbox on my car has not given a days worry. It is extremely smooth (if a jerky gearchange is anything to judge a failing gearbox) and i hope to get a lot more mileage out of it before it breaks!
Mods on my car: decat, deflap en egr vacuum plugged. Am very happy with the power presently but am always on the lookout for ways to increase the torque!
