Motorplan transfer?

I get the general feeling...but here's the thing, and it scared me stoopid.

I thought I'd get new trim panels for the Z4M(current ones are scratched), and got a quote from the dealers... for the three pieces of dash trim in brushed aluminum, the price came to over R18 000.

That knocked some perspective in.

Personally I see the motorplan as some sort of guarantee / insurance. If I can't have them transfer the motorplan, I can't extend it for another year, which is what I was really going for...

I love the car, and the performance, and to some extent the so called "care free" driving that comes with it. I don't have a need to be milking the motorplan, as I don't intend on driving like a bum, despite being a Gauty :fencelook:

Just being realistic I suppose. It was sold to me with motorplan, and I paid for motorplan thus I expect it.

Nope. I think it only carries a 2 year warrantee. I was planning on paying cash for it...

If the trim is really badly damaged, rather go the wrap of spray method, as it will look just as good, and it won't cost you a small fortune.

Deal is that everyone is always so worried about motorplan, but the truth is we will all be a lot better off if BMW just dropped the whole motorplan hoax and replaced it with a proper warranty. Really what is a couple of months of motorplan really going to do? Unless you are planning to try and milk the motorplan just before it expires.
In the end someone is paying for motorplan, nothing is ever free. And I don't really get why people want their cars serviced/repaired at the dealers anyway, as they seem to be the worst bunch of excuses for part replacers around.

When I bought my car a few months back, it had about 93000km. Since then I had had a service done, clutch replaced and getting a new motor, so its more than worth it having motorplan.

tell the guys you bought the car from that the car needs to go to BMW and have the issues that are stopping motorplan fixed at their expense.

if they wont do it then walk away.
you always want a few months motorplan at least just incase something goes wrong, i had R15k worth of issues within like 1 month of buying my car and i was glad i didnt have to fork that our of my own pocket for sure!

I didn't pay anything for transferring the motor plan to my name. Why you have to pay is silly, I bought my car at Hatfield Auto BMW.

If you 'bought' the car with MP as a 'extra' then that is what you should get. But by reading this, it seems that this car, even thou the km's are so low, is not in a good condtion... Having to be resprayed indicated some form of damage, and if a non OEM trailing arm was used to repair, it also means that the car was not repaired at a BMW authorized panelbeater... So no guarantee on the work.

If it was me, I would walk away from this car. They are not cheap and I'm sure you dont want to end up with a lemon at the end of the day.

The vehicle was repaired to spec at Forsdicks BMW in Sandton in 2009, which is considered approved AFAIK? It's been driven around on motorplan, and even serviced for it's 40 000km service on the motorplan. Iphoned BMW Cedar Isle to confirm motorplan prior to purchase, and was told that all is good. It's now on 41000 kms. I dunno...Seems like an internal BMW stuff up to me.

They're having the vehicle repaired to spec now. I bought it knowing there was a ding or two in the paint, but as a customer, you don't exactly drive it onto a lift and check BMW logos on each and every part on the vehicle...

Let's see what comes back after today (day 3)
At least the dealer I bought the vehicle from is forthcoming and trying. Most people would just turn around and make it your problem. If it persists, I'll just reverse the deal.

What does CPA give you? 10 days I think?

and motorplan is a must on a new car, just had to have my clutch replaced so further R15k or so i didn't have to cover.

They probably didnt want to go the whole CPA route, and since you discovered the Motorpal Eff-ups, it was just better for them to have it fixed and transfer the motorplan.

WHat you need to do, is take the car to another BMW dealership, and complain about the suspension or something like that. Let them take the car in and check everything, and make sure everything is 100%.

These guys will do anything to allow the car to pass Quality check, best to be safe. Get the car checked up, balanced, aligned, run on the diagnostics machine, clear all errors and then you can have peace of mind.

And before someone else says it, we need to see pictures of this car!!
