at almost 80 000km, thing is I will do the extra 20 000km in approx 9 months and i have 2 months to expiry. so that is R12k for 7 months MP :nonono: so for me it wont work. each scenario would be different. if i were closer to 60 000km i would extend MP for a year.

one other thing to consider is to try sell a car without a MP :thumbdo:

i am screwed every way i turn, so i would rather keep my money and be screwed than spend it and be screwed :roflol:

Nixster I am in the same predicament. I have done 78000km

R12k for MP to 100 000km (or 1 year from renewal)
R18k for MP to 105 000km (or 1 year from renewal)
R25k for MP to 110 000km (or 1 year from renawal)

I would rather put R25k away in a savings account, and pay R2k a month into that savings account. That would be the kitty if anything went wrong.

I would probably lose more if I sold the car now, as BMW give kak trade-in values but sell them at premium prices. Also there is no other car I want.

also find yourself a good bmw mechanic who can source second hand parts as replacements for faulty parts. I found one in Durban.

I may change my mind, but this is my thinking for now. Its a risk, but in 1 year I dont see my car breaking :fencelook:

Who is the guy in Durban ?

Yes please Josh, who is this guy in Durban?

I have also opted not to extend my MP. With the sort of milage i do, which is less than 10k a year, its not worth the money theyre asking. My next service would be due after the extension expired...

I was quoted in the 20K mark to extend MP for 15000km or 1 year.

I said hell no. Since MP expired I replaced exhaust due to loose baffle, now turbo's starting to smoke and clutch showing signs of slipping.

My vrou is tunning me at home:rollsmile:

Luckily I can work on my own car so only parts it will cost to repair.

Decisions, decisions. I think it all depends on you, are you mechanically minded, what is your driving style, what type of roads do you drive on, etc. You say you're trouble free so far, a good sign, and your usage is not very high, so what are the odds something will break during the extension? If all goes well, R13k for 1 or 2 services is a little heavy. Please also allow for Murphy's Law, just part of the equation. Happy headache!

I would extend the mp at that pricing.
Unless you plan on modding. Then I'd fit the intercooler for that price.:joy:

If you going to mod with non approved BMW parts then its best to be out of MP...then you can mod as you please.

There are quite a few (independent BMW dealerships) that is aimed at providing services to the out of MP market. So you wont be stranded.

I see it as insurance. I grudge purchase, but will make your life easier if something does go wrong. You most probably wont get your moneys worth, only peace of mind.

For intrest sake extended 2 MP's this year. only for time:
2007 Z4M- 11k
2008 330i- 7k

I was qouted R58k to extend my mileage and time by one year to 120000km.I thought bugger that, bloody madness,I would rather take the R58k and spend it on a purchase of another car but I love my car bits :inlove:

I have however since August of last year had just over R130k's work done on her via motorplan so she's basically like a new car plus all parts replaced comes with a 2 year warranty  .I cant wait to put my mods back on again plus some extra mods are also planned for the very near future :joy:

Paging Twinz,paging Twinz

Oh yes some of the dealers are happy to accomodate certain warranties like motorite etc
