Ok so my car is still under motorplan.
I really want to install my laser jammers or soon i will be in jail and a Garmin GPS (The power cable directly connected to IGN)
Will BMW allow me or how do I go about, or are there BMW dealers , more user friendly than others ?

If it gets done by an acredited installer, someone that bmw refers you to, then it will be ok, problem is firstly you are going to be paying allot of money,
and secondly if something electrical were to go wrong and they were able to hint at the idea that your mods caused it, then they can refuse payment under motorplan.
Best is, contact the motorplan office directly, the one in Midrand, you can find their details here: http://www.bmw.co.za/products/automobiles/premium_selection/motorplan.asp

Or stay within the speed limit...
Ya you did not expect that kind of reply from me. :)

Try a Garmin that warns you of fixed and some mobile traffic spots but i think you need to take a monthly subscription or something.

Twinz, I agree, sticking to the limit is the best, but if he wants to fit a detector/jammer, and he gets pulled over in a roadblock or something, and locked up for defeating the ends of justice for having such a device fitted, then that is totally his choice. :)

No the legal service will not be needed, for the jammrs....Had been importing them for years and fitting them for years.
You get jammers and you get jammers !
I managed today to stick to the limit.....one can fall asleep like this....anyway no the jammer is not to go flat out all the time, it is for that 75km/h by accident in the 60 zone or the quick 130km in 120 zone...not to go 250 in a 60 zone. Responsibility plays a big role with cars like this.

How do they detect/find such devices?

Muney, most of the new camera units we use can pick up on these devices.
Also our camera systems with the lasers take 0.02 seconds to focus, lock and take the picture of you speeding, all from a distance of up to 600 meters away, so you won't even have seen the cop or the camera next to the road, and you would have been caught already.
Also the laser locks onto a dot the size of a tennisball, so your detector/jammer would have to get a direct hit before even going off, so I really don't know why even bother? :dunno:
WPBMW, stating that the product is being imported for years doesn't make it legal to have on your car, just like fitting aftermarket turbo to say my car, on the licence papers it still says 325i, so in a roadblock or sting, I can get my ride taken off the road because of this, same with dropped suspention, sport steering wheels, all has to be re-registered on your vehicle by a testing station, and believe me, it's not as easy.
The cops normally don't pay attention to these things, but lately, with these new task teams going up against street racers, you can be sure that they are going to be looking into stuff like that.
Now just imagine having your car impounded, you arrested, and having to pay bail, going to court, paying inpound fees, having to take your car for a new roadworthy, all because you had something fitted that shouldn't be there.
YIp, I know, we like making our cars nice, hell, look at my car, but sticking to the speedlimit is one of my priorities.
If you wanna race, go to a trackday, and yip, I also do the occasional robot to robot "testing" against other cars.
As I always say, just don't get caught, and if you do, good luck.
PS: I wasn't fighting or shooting you down mate, just telling you like I know it is. :)

I had Laser Jammers on my previous car and i got no trouble from the dealer. The motorplan was fine because the installer (Bloomsbury) did not cut into any wires! They connected it to my battery and put an on/off switch under the dash.As long as you not cutting into any
wires you should be fine.

I've gone through many roadblocks in the past and again no problems!! Maybe the law has changed in the past 11 months since i sold the car.!

GK, it's like I said, by law it classes as defeating the ends of justice, so by all means, fit it and hope you get by ok,
but by law, you can get arrested, car impounded, bla bla bla... and all the reast I already posted.
The law has been there for a long time, thing is with the way they are going to be clamping down on speeding and that, you might just get noticed in a roadblock, and the rest will be history. :)

In CPT the GhostSquad are heavy on guys who mod their cars, I have heard of people getting their disks taken away and having to re-roadworth their vehicles.
