I am just curious...as they are debating it here in office...

What are the laws regarding a motorcyclist driving between cars all the way and even staying between vehicles as if its a lane (lane straddle) and do you have a source.

I do believe it is legal for them to drive the centre lane to overtake a car and go back into the lane and they are not allowed to lane share...

Yes, bikes are legally allowed to lane split, but it should be done correctly, not a law, but common sense, lane split slightly faster than the speed the cars are going, some riders go at a hell of a speed, which will not end well....
It was introduced may years ago, in the days of mostly air cooled bikes, which cannot idle for extensive periods of time for obvious reasons.
