Hi

I have a E46 330i auto, I fitted a sports filter and took it to Steve's in Midrand for a chip and de-cat.
Only to find out that my cat bloged up... everything with a oil service cost me R5100. My fuel consumption drop from
10.6l/p 100km- 9.5... i'm pushing also 25kw more on the back wheels...

I think that it was money well spend.
Cheers

Guys where will I be able to buy the Simota, K&N induction kit with heatshield or the BMC CDA one? What will they cost?

SS, I've done some reading. The reason the MAF fails is because of over oiling the filter.

I got a sports filter with heat shield, and have no problems... felt the difference Immediately! when you sit in traffic, it will pull in some hot air... otherwise it's fuel saver and an Hp gainer.
Cheers

lol, save the $$$ and buy an ///M. Honestly speaking, I like to keep my cars close to stock in the engine area, the only things I would do to a car are suspension, cosmetics, intake and exhaust. Anything other than that is a no no for me. Just personal preference!

You know what, I kinda feel teh same way Muney. I did'nt pay alot of money for this car so that someone else can F it up. I think I might just get the exhaust done by TNT when I was some spare dough next year.

Joefer, is that Steve's as in Steve's autop Clinic?

I concur...I would be damned if some dumb mech were to screw my engine up! In terms of power, Im pretty happy with the 3.0... well who wouldn't be after driving a 316i for 4 years, lol! Funny enuff, I also want a nice zorst on my car. I remember test driving an e36 323i with a free flow. Had an amazing sound to it, I never asked what zorst it was but by golly it was beautiful!

Yip, steve's in Midrand. They only do Petrol.
I'll have a look and see if I still got my dyno stats.

I agree with you guys totally. My mate also has a 330i auto and he went to TNT for a decat and a full pipe, sounds awesome!

When i have R5K lying around im gonna do that!

if you got the cash,go for a full system, branches and exhaust with decat and software.

as for aftermarket filters.iam still no fan of them.your car might seem fine now but wait till the oil on the filter stuffs up the maf.remember the maf has to be really sucky before the ecu throws an error.

and besides they let in more dirt than normal paper filters, for the extra kw they give, not worth it in my opinion

Does he get the "check engine light" error?

How loud is the TNT pipe? I don't want boy racer & don't want to be irritated when doing highway cruising speeds either.

EDIT: anybody got an idea what a stock E46 330i auto dyno?

Yeah I've seen you guys recommend that, but I was just wondering if TNT pipe gives the error, or whether they include a cat fooler. I think it was Clutchplate that used his old O2 sensors (think thats what it is/was) but you should put them back in the pipe @ the exact same place where they came out of & then you don't get the error.

sometimes you still get the error even though you still put the sensors back, depending on what car.when i had my St i put the sensors back with bluefin software and that was suppose to remove the check engine light which it never did.i ended up using 2 cat foolers and that did the trick

My stock one was on 115kw on back wheels after filter, de-cat and chip .. it was on 135kw...

with the TNT it does not sound like a boy racer lol It has a nice growl to it, but when you put your foot flat then it sounds awesome! Yeah they fixed the engine light problem

Thanks for the info gents. St Lunatic, thats good to know, thanks.

I have thought quite a bit about this, but first things first. I have to get my side skirts fixed, not sure who did it, but while somethig on my car had to be fixed one of the places reversed into something. I can't point fingers becuase more than one place worked on the car, luckily it's not mayor damage, but It'll cost R1000-1500 to get fixed. Then I'll have to get the mags fixed aswell, another R2500-R3000 for that.

Tehn I'm going to get the BMW sport springs (not sure what they cost), I wanted H&R's but the drop is to low & our driveway won't like that at all. Together with this I'm getting Powerbrake front disks & mintex pads.

After that I'll do the TNT exhaust & call it a day, unless I can get E36/46 M3 mirror replicas. Oh I so want to get these.
