Just remember that every 2nd asshole these days owns a Gti.
The Gti actually sells more units, than all the other golf put together... :dropjaw:

Not to mention that most of the metro cops also drive them.:fencelook:

Why the brand hating and name calling ?

:nonono:

GTI for the package it delivers is popular and has proven to respond to mods better than any other car out there. Even if not modded it delivers what a hot hatch is suppose to do.

PS: Fastest GTIs in the WORLD are from South Africa. That alone is a huge achievement for the Brand and the following.

As much as I love my Beemers and M3s one has to give credit to VW for the GTI. They built a car that is popular , delivers power and a car that has alot of heritage in it. Not many Brands can say that.

Shaun, I didn't post that I hate the brand! :nono:
What I implied with my coment was that when you drive on the road, then there are so many Gti's out there, and every guy, no matter where he comes from, owns one.
I'm sorry, but the entire idea behind it is the fact that what you drive must
A. make you feel special... GTI Check, its an awesome car, but not an M3.
B. Be unique, and if not, then make it unique, make it yours.
I have obviously driven in Gti's, both the previous shapes, and even the newest ones, and its just too generic!!!
Also the steering is not even connected to the wheels... Its like my PC game steering wheel...

Will I ever buy a GTI??
Yes and No...
Yes, If I had no other choice, and the Gti was the cream of the crop, then no doubt its a great car.
No, cause I would MUCH rather buy a bmw.

For every GTI on the road there is a E90 320i around the corner.

Does that make them XXXX as well.

See where Im going with this.

Not really...
NEVER will I call bmw owners assholes, unless they drive like assholes, then by all means... they are assholes.
...but Golf Gti owners on the other hand... :mmm:

PS: Did you by any chance own, or still own a Gti Shaun?? :tease:

PLEASE dont take what I say personally and get all offended... its my oppinion, and thats what this thread, and forum is all about.
Just because I think it to be so, doesn't make it so... :thumb:

Golf 6 GTI over the M3 anyday of the week...E36 M3 is one of my all time favorite cars, but having owned one, I can say that its really an old car now, and not something I would ever buy again! It just feels old and dated now and when you get into a newer car it straight away feels more solid.

If you have the funds to purchase a Golf 6 GTI but would prefer an M3 then I would MUCH rather get the E46 M3....that is a frikken sexy car and it still gives most modded hot hatches a very hard time!

My biggest problem with the E36 M3 is that any E36 can be made to look exactly like it, the 2 door being the exception.

E46 M3 is one of those cars that age extreamly well! especially if you get the later one with the LED back lights etc.

Good luck on your decision!

Click on my garage under my name and you will see the cars I have.

Yes I have owned a GTi and probably will buy another one in the future. Im not taking it personal but surely one should have a opinion of something one has owned. I gave my opinion of the GTi and merely stated it was not very nice calling GTI owners *assholes*

Surely as a ELITE BMW community we can have some sort of decency to other drivers out there dont you think?

Question was Golf 5 Gti or M3 not Golf 6 Gti. In this case no brainer E36 M3!! You feel special when you drive one, I used to drive mine just for the sake of driving it!! If I had a Golf 5 Gti in my garage I dont think I would ever get the urge to drive it just because like I did with my M3!!!! :praise::praise: Still my favourite BMW I've ever owned!!

Thats a tough choice i must say....the boost of the Gti would be nice up at the reef but the m3 is a beast.

I'd go M3

I too like GTis but dont forget that they are only popualr because VW SA flooded the the market for some 50 years with the mk1 golf..Yes there may be some fast Gtis in SA but theres only one country in the world which has milked the mk1 golf ---gx,gs,gt,gti,lite,not so lite,cti,citi....Man they made some money with that mould.
Dont get me started on the Mk4 R32 ,oh no -that was the 1st gen,so SA musnt get that...Instead (Accountants at VW SAs thoughts at board meeting)We will take the golf .Add the r32 kit and rims and stick a Red R next to GTi and the guys will go crazy. And they wont even mind spending another R100k for that.
WTH going on with model recycling...its insulting to the consumers

GTi ....great cars but recentlt too clinical.Dashes look the same through most models and not exciting enough unless you buy the top of the range
