Misfire Found

So as some of you know I had issues with misfires at the last ODI event.

Last weekend I decided to do some troubleshooting after Sherwin steered me in the right direction.

First I read my logs and picked up misfire being reported on cylinder 1 and cylinder 3. So before stripping the spark plugs I left the car unlocked for a few hours to do the injector leak test. George once mentioned on another post that if the car is unlocked then the ECU keeps the fuel system primed which puts less strain on the high pressure fuel pump. Thus when the car is started and splutters then it is a good indication of leaky injector. I decided not to start the car.

Cylinder 1: guess what I found, a heavily fouled plug. Good news I guess seeing that it is not a Coil pack or Injector.

Cylinder 2,4,5,6: spark plugs showed nice consistent burn with slight wear on the electrode

Cylinder 3: same as cylinder 2, so was a bit confused until I smelt my fingers. The spark plug had a strong stench of fuel to it. Out came the flash light and luckily the piston was close to TDC so that I could inspect what's happening inside the cylinder. The top of the piston was moist when comparing with the other cylinders. Cylinder 3 issue diagnosed as leaky injector. Good news.

This is where issue started. From research you need to change the injectors with the same part number mine being index 06 (last 2 numbers in the part number). The injectors are grouped in 2 sets of 3 being bank 1 and bank 2. Websites mentioned that you are not allowed to mix different injectors in the same bank. So in my case since I could not source an injector with the same part number it meant that I needed to replace all 3 injectors in bank one. :smashScreen:

Luckily I received my Christmas box early this year in the form of Kish on the forum . He had 1 injector for sale for me but with index 09. So we discussed the part number issue of mixing injectors in a bank and Kish mentioned that if you have the old generation injector you are allowed to swap it with injectors with index 07 till 09. Injectors with index 11 or 12 are new spec and needs to be done in batches of 3 per bank.

The injector has arrived so now just need to install and recode the injector flow rate via INPA.

Thanks to Sherwin and Kish for the advise and helping hand.:clapper:
