MINI Countryman Launch - Who wants to come?

Ok... Let me Explain the MINI world.

MINI = The Brand.

Cooper = Range. All MINI's are Coopers irrespective of their model.

Cooper Hatch = Normal 1.6 MINI Hatchback
Cooper Convertible = Normal MINI 1.6 Convertible
Cooper Clubman = Normal 1.6 Clubman

Add the S and you have the Sport model. And turbo engine.

The same applies to the Countryman. We will get:

Cooper Countryman = Normal 1.6 Countryman (88kw)
Cooper S Countryman = Turbo charged Sport model (135kw)
Cooper S Countryman All4 = Turbo Countryman with all4. (135kw)

The normal MINI's aka the Hatch, Convertible and Clubman will not get All4. Only the Cooper Countryman S will get All4.

Well... Having X drive it can under full load transfer all its power to the rear wheels. :excited:

It also depends on what traction control you spec... EDLC allows the MINI to powerslide as it is designed to allow / simulate a powerslide.

i very much doubt we will ever see a Rwd mini there is way more chance of seeing a 4wd

But seriously... Have any of you ever driven a MINI Cooper S with EDLC?

It powerslide and drifts just like a rear wheel drive... And if you spec DTC you get a limited slip diff too.

no i have not...
but great as all that stuff is rwd will still have more traction because under acceleration the body presses the rear wheels down not the front...
thats why good 4wd systems put more power to the back... so a good 4wd system is more of a Rwd but because it is 4wd when things get very slippery you can pull it out with the front wheels i think 4wd is the perfect compromise between performance and safety
