POST EM!!!

And Herr... Don't worry about whats being said in the other Thread.. Host more Midnight Runs, its a success and guys must just realize the dangers involved... which I know we all do. We drove responsibly more than we did as hooligans... Proof of that is the video I posted is 13 minutes, of which 4 minutes isn't even the run. I only cut into the video the racing stuff... I have over 2 hours of just driving in convoy which I figured was pretty boring for a video. Only a handful of open roads where we let our engines do the talking.

Don't let it bother you. Host more, make the guys aware of their actions, which I'm sure they already are. The races that were had were not about cornering and being first, and they usually only lasted a few seconds on a very straight well lit road...

I have driven both midnight runs from this year, I have seen how responsible the guys are, its not a 0 - 300kph dash and see who finishes the course first... some cars test their metal against others in a straight line on open roads... Most of the races end long before reaching other traffic. Only at the end when there were a handful of us left did Ksingh and I open up and let loose all the way to the engen...

Don't let the thought of bad omens change your mind on organizing such events. Its not like you twisted anyone's arm to go or making people pay... you just came up with an idea and said lets do it...

Midnight runs will happen again and again... You cannot be found responsible if anything does happen (God forbid). So chill Herr...

I say we have another one before the toll roads are implemented. My only thought to make it safer, would be to zone off parts of the route for racing... so say, only from such and such a section, will runs be allowed and at a maximum speed of 200kph so to say...

Look I felt safe amongst the other drivers... I could see where everyone was, the roads were open and lit. Sure, I hit a dead dog on the way home... My car is already fixed and no one got hurt. Mike is generally worried about the lives of some of the fanatics, but maybe a little too worried. We're not on the midnight run to race for pink slips and show our stuff, we're running together to enjoy the cars...

Okay, now I'm starting to write a novel here... Look, Keep organizing events... hind sight is 20/20... Both runs successful and fun. Accidents will happen be it a sunday drive, a midnight drive, a track day... It will not bring shame to the forum because what is this forum about, bringing BMW drivers together... what do we do, we drive BMW's... together...

OK.. I will shuddup now!!! :werd:

Colin, in my view you are a legend for organising this midnight run which was a huge success from all that we have seen! So will be awesome to see future midnight runs - would love for us to have them down here in the Cape too and all around the country.

Guys, as per thread called "To be, or not to be" about the next midnight run...

Here is my post about set matters:

:pimp:
Well, WHATEVER gets planned in future, if its a breakfast run, a midnight run, or a drive to the airbase or racetrack after meeting up before the time, I WILL NOT BE PART OF IT!!! Because I will be seen as a hypocrate and a two-faced, law breaking cop, that enforces the law when it suits me....

I will also not be there, because I am pretty sure, that someone might "leak" out ALL the details of such a meet, just to prove a point when the guys start posting about how the cops showed up, or how the cops where waiting for them, so BE CAREFUL WHATEVER YOU PLAN!!!

So, sorry my fellow fanatics, the ONLY time you will see me now is when I show up at Kyalami or Zwartkops to braai my vleis in peace!!!! or when someone invites me for a visit at their house, or come to visit me at mine...

THE END!!!!!!

So sorry everyone, thats my choice as forced onto me by the disgust of a fellow fanatic, and ja..... no more comments!! :nonono:

The road pix came out very well too. There is nothing more exciting than seeing a pic of ones car on the move. I only hate it when the pic comes from the traffic department...

Fantastic Shots! Those on the move are really something...

Also just had an Idea. We've had 'runs' way before I joined any forum and we'd have a lead runner with a radar detector and or jammer run the whole route before the other car/s and upon return we went and gave it stick. On a preselected stretch of highway.

So my thoughts are we could have a convoy lead the pack for about 5-10mins (keeping to the 2 left hand lanes) and the guys that really want to 'test their mettle/metal' can follow up behind (keeping to the 2 right hand lanes)

Something along those lines. We would need to trial run it for timing. to determine if 5mins is enough. The first pitstop should be enough trial
