Select 91oct / 95ron

How sure are you guys are fuel is even 91 oct 95ron? Many people say the fuel is even worse quality then that and they flash the map for even weaker fuel.

The fuel is terrible here. It's also very inconsistent! you can feel a definite difference in feel and performance of your car from different filling stations and different brands etc.
I read an article about the quality of South African fuel a while ago when researching what map to choose for MHD and it shocked me, if I find the article again ill paste it here. Our fuel is some of the worst in the world!

I actually decided to go back to a stock map because of this, I don't like worrying about my engine every time I put my foot down, or seeing all the crazy timing corrections and having to put NF ultra that costs a bloody fortune to sort this out. I will just roll with a stock map and have piece of mind. :)

Thanks for the quick replys guys.
I already have a bms charge pipe and dci installed.
Installing 3inch catless downpipes, mmp inlets and mhd stage1 or 1+ until my fast factory cooler comes in.
Also puting new gaskets in the exhuast and manifold.
Ill make a new thread soon to introduce my car. And some pics of the we doing today.

You have a point about the stage1+ but im just scared it hurts the car somehow. I don't mind waiting a few weeks to add the cooler and go stage 2+ or a custom tune from Emp tuning to take full advantage of my inlets at the reef. I am already gaining +- 100kw and +-200nm with mhd, downpipes, and mmp inlets so ill be ok until then with the power gains :smilebounce:

exited much :)

I recently spoke to someone from sonoco race fuels.
They did a test 4 years ago and told me that Sasol of all places has the best fuel at 92octane and shell in second place at 91/90 octane. The ron was testet at 96. Bp was the worst of the lot they also said.
He said it is inconsistent but those are the facts and all guidelines i have. The best solution to this is using e95 ethanol in your fuel mix to up the octane since it is +- 105 octane and good for your engine. Im running a 10% e95 mix and shell pump fuel and its not pulling any timing on a 91 octane mhd map. Worth the trouble of getting the e95 imo. Just wish i could buy a propper octane testing kit now to.

Cam someone please share the price for the flashing module and stage2+ map for f20 n55 please. I cant view the price without connecting the car, it will be much appreciated thanks. And is there a way to flash a custom map without purchasing the flash module?

Flasher module: R3299.99
Stage 2 maps pack: R1299.99
Monitor module: R1299.99

You need the flasher module in order to flash a custom map.

Hi guys, I see most of the threads regarding MHD are fairly old posts and there are a few members here using the platform.

Can anyone share their experiences in terms of gains and reliability using the OTS and/or custom maps?

I know this is a MHD thread but anyone using Bootmod3 or MG, please also share your views. There's plenty on info on the web but hardly any local content.

Been running MHD since 2019 and cannot complain at all. It's a great tool and being able to switch quickly is really handy. Plenty of settings to fiddle with if that's your thing.

I've used OTS S1, S2 and S2+ (when adding an octane booster) and the power increase is obvious.

One time I had a failed flash (I flash wired), which was quite stressful, but it ultimately comes down to power supply - Make sure your battery is good and better yet, have the car on a trickle charger whenever flashing. Even the short flashes, where possible.

I have not had the opportunity to test a custom map so can't comment on that. I have enquired about a custom tune, with one of the forum advertisers actually, but never got a response. Not sure if it's something we have access to in SA.
