To diagnose such a thing overthe internet is a bit silly. Look to see if the car can't be moved to D and pushed out and then loaded onto a flatbed, or pull the driveshaft and get it towed to a place that can look at it. The 4 speed box is known for being very though.

The SLS is a fluid filled system with various hoses, pumps and seals. Standing for long periods not only does the fluid degrade but it could possibly be a hydroscopic fluid aswell and that means water in the system and that is full on failure.

Hi Guys

Just an Update, on my w124 E320

So I Have been working on the W124 , Not really rushing it , Its more of a project for me , and something to keep my busy though its damn interesting to work on these cars and try and figure out how all the little bits work, I know nothing about these cars , so have been doing a bit or research on it , have my service and repair manual , reading up online etc . Then again
I knew nothing about the E30 as well , and that now works :) Somewhat .

Anyway , My progress so far , I have the car on all four jack stands . Its now up in the air .

Replaced the gearbox filter and gasket , No more leaks I hope, I need to now turn the engine so I can drain the Torque converter and refill the transmission . Im not sure if that would work to fix the reverse issue but anyway I did it .

I also replaced all the rubbers and bushings for the transmission gearshift linkage . It feels alot more smoother now when moving the gearshift.

Trying to find the source of its oil leaks . It seems to be leaking from the front . I checked around and there does not seem to be any oil leaking from the head gasket . I think the sump might be leaking but I dont have the tools to replace that gasket so I will leave it for a garage to do.

Drained the oil , it came out like glue , I tried to flush it by adding cheap oil and letting it drain out more , and alot more of that old oil came out in globs . I found no coolant in the oil , which made me happy :)

Drained the coolant and removed the tappet cover and timing chain cover , I noticed that there was a broken bolt on the head , I can see it now that I have removed the timing cover , Not sure How im going to remove that bolt.

My next step is to try and remove the broken bolt and replace the timing cover seals and tappet cover seals . Hopefully that should stop the oil leaks at the front . While im doing that , Im going to try and clean it .

This cars engine is filthy , Oil and grime everywhere , Oil mixed with sand on the outside , I think all those years back my dad probably just parked it off in the garage and left it there for dead . Anyway , I will try and bring it back to life.

Well so far Im not 100% sure but I don't think the head gasket is gone , I cant rule it out . But I will only know for sure once I have completed everything and started the car .

But its so dirty , How can I clean this head? Is there a procedure? What can I use to clean it ? Toothbrush with engine cleaner and some cloth?

The last picture at the bottom is a picture of the bolt that was broken , How can I remove that bolt?
