Great work Martin.

On the steering wheel surround, not sure why BMW put 'plastidip' on it, but i removed all of the rubbery paint, and it was a nice finish underneath so i left it . If yours doesn't have any scratches you could consider the same?

Looks great! I have gloss and matt black vinyl for you if you want.
Gloss black vinyl would be awesome, I want to do my bonnet inserts and the grille in gloss black. I painted these on my 330d and the paint tends to chip off, I think Vinyl would be a great option. Would also like to meet you

Looks good! You are less lazy than I am.. My optic blue foglight mod:hammerhead: is always done without taking the lenses off
i contemplated it, but the round shape of these foglights makes it difficult to stretch the vinyl into the dome shape. Hey atleast you do your own foglight tinting :smilebounce:

Hi Sash
Yeah mine looked alright when I had eventually removed the soft touch crap from the piece, but I didn't like the naked plastic look, looks a bit cheap. Will keep the carbon vinyl on until it starts to irritate me and then either paint it gloss black, or wrap it in gloss black vinyl.

Thanks meneer! It does look loads better then the peeling soft touch crap :ty:

So the new plates came, what a mission to get the old double sided tape off... I hate 7

Q20 :=):

As for the yellow fogs, watch out for the cops, they pulled me off and made me remove mine on the spot.

Steering wheel, fake carbon goes on hondas, rather paint it to keep the oem look?

Yeah I eventually got it off using Q20, I was just too impatient at first and realised that I need to let it soak in for at least 10 minutes before it gets to the glue. Worked a lot faster on the rear. Lesson learnt.

Never has issues with the yellow fogs, as long as it's not red or blue or purple it should be seen as "legal".

Steering wheel will be redone in due course, I want to paint it gloss black together with the gearshift insert. Gloss vinyl would also be a good option

So I was booked off sick for today and tomorrow. I can't sit at home, I get cabin fever before 13h00.

What I did manage to do was put some vinyl on the grilles and bonnet inserts. Will redo it when I get some gloss vinyl. But it looks good and helped me get through the boring day at home.

Looks good but gloss black will look better IMO.

Been wanting to spray my grills gloss black for some time now as well.

Had a rear light error when I got the car, and pinpointed it to the bootlid right-side light. Some muppet didn't fit the globe holder into the housing properly at some stage, causing the globes to partially melt the housing, and bending the housing's "clip-part". This meant that the globe holder didn't fit snugly and whenever I shut the boot too hard the housing would come loose. So what I did was plastic weld the housing so that the clip part was in its correct shape, and then strengthened the split which was caused by the melting so that the housing was nice and solid again.

The globe holder now clips securely into the housing and won't come apart again. HĂŞppy!

I hate these kind of problems, I had an earthing issue on mine some years ago. Lucky it was caught early and only the wiring plug had some damage.

I remember my 330d also looked brown because of the heat, it must be a common thing on the E90's at least. All the DIY videos I've seen show the housing being burnt/discoloured

Was at a wedding last weekend and the plaque flew off my bonnet on the N1. BMW wants R900 for the plaque, so I had to make a plan. Got this badge off Bid or Buy for R120, looks pretty decent so will be getting the rear and steering wheel ones as well.

Looks good bud... Just beware, these badges tend to discolour in the sun :fencelook:

The trick is to spray a few layers of clear coat over the badge

Will see how they hold up, if they fade they're cheap enough to change again. Can't believe the OEM badge is so expensive
