Actually my Wife is maybe the exception to the rule here, she does sometimes pat the dashboard of her car when she (the car) has done something spectacular (which is most of the time). I remember when she took the car for the first drive and gave it a bit on the N1, she patted the dashboard and said something along the lines, "we are going to be good friends!!"
