Hi guys!

i have an e36 325 and i need to replace the shocks. the car was lowered by the previous owner however i am also not happy with the springs.

after searching for coilovers and asking around, quite a few responses were about Maxtrac coilovers. Does anyone have any experiences or thoughts on these? apparently they're worth the R4500 which is a fair price for coilovers.

Any advice would be appreciated

R4500 is worryingly cheap for coilovers. I wouldn't fit maxtrac coilovers on my cars. But that's just me. The cheapest coilovers I would get are bc coilovers.

You can't even get bottom of the range koni struts for that price.

I currently have them on my car. Car feels great and the ride is good. Well IMO atleast. Stiff but not crashy. Also very easy to install

Just as a side note. I can't fit my original 15" wheels on the car with the coilovers(front only) as the foul the spring perches. I'll be fitting wheel spacers to see if this fixes the problem.

My style 32 17" clear then no problem tho

I have replaced these for customers with Koni STR.T and H&R springs... they were not happy with the ride and handling and were very happy with the combo I provided

my opinion based on feedback is the coilovers are worth 4.5k if you not expecting much and just want to lower the car for little money

if you expect more you are better off spending a little extra on quality components

i would not fit them if this is a track weekend car

but if its a daily i don't see the harm , many ppl have fitted these and are happy with them

but i state not for track use, i would then fit bc for light track use

then koni if it going to see more than 4 track events a year

Cheap (5k) coilovers on a daily is just asking for trouble. The damping is harsh and you're going to wish you still had the OEM setup.
Unless you're a stance nut and you don't mind wearing a kidney belt on your morning commute

I put them in my friend's e46 touring 2 years ago. I drove it last week and the car still feels good. 8000km on them so far and no issues.

I remember when I was researching the same subject there was a post on the forum of someone who had it on their E46 M3.

And to be honest....my car goes thru bump exactly the same as my buddy 2014 fiesta ST......If not slightly better due to sidewall width

Fitted a set on my E36 almost a year ago and I've had no problems whatsoever with them.

5500 Km's later and I'm still smiling.
