Man vs Machine

I have a really serious concern.

This has been bugging me for a while now. Why is it that everyone on the road soon as they see you driving a BMW, they think they have to race you. I mean for example, ever since i graduated from my 320i E46 to my current whip, 330i E90 (face lift), every guy i know wants to race me; In particular guys with GTI's (both 5 & 6), Audi 2.0T etc. Funny thing is my specs far outweigh theirs. My friend with a GTI 5, claims he has dragged with an E90 330i and beaten it, and now he wants to eat me too...

He is hoping for a lucky run! BMW is the bench mark bud take his shit as a compliment!

But there is this theory that the GTI on a 100 - 200m sprint can take the BM. Then again, we have the strength, but question is the acceleration to that point is it fast enough. And another thing is, the manual transmission on the GTI vs the auto on the BM. Wont the guy launch faster.

The Gti 5 makes around 105kw @ wheels on our dyno the 330 about 155kw..
From launch the Auto BMW will be slower but depending how the golf driver can launch! seeing its front wheel drive and has no L/S diff! but then again with the BMW you can step on the brake rev it up at drop your foot and fly out of the blocks! rolling start a stock golf 5 will see its poepol no way he will hold candle with the 330I..
The Manual 330i will chow the golf 5 gti!

Here comes the fun part! out of motorplan for R10'000 i will make the 330i chow E46 M3's tuned golf 6gti's and more!
And it will be N/A, more reliable and lighter on fuel!

If we managed from 92kw to 144kw and 249nm on a single vanos 328i and from a 17.1 1/4mile to a 14.8s Im sure it will make your 330i haul like a fart through a dyno fan!

No it will definitely not affect reliability as we do not open the engine or move the rev limiter! its all cosmetic mods.. to control airflow, timing and fuel!

It will also be much more economical! and if you do the diff you will end up at more or less the same consumption you get now!

Its VENOM RACING, Witbank Mpumalanga about 100km from PTA and JHB on your way to nelspruit!.. you can contact me @ 082 895 5229!

Thanks mate. I am gonna show that boy dust if he ever tries. I have been a bit scared of the whole rev'n thing not knowing how far to take it before i mess up my car, still relatively new hey, and i didnt buy it to show guys how big my balls are...mo for the ladies, lol. so the rev'n wont mess the car, and how far should i take it.

You know, what tho, the guys dont want to even try a 10km sprint, scared as hell, they know...

Bud i asume your car is Manual.. your peak power is at 6600rpm so when you are racing you can shift it just before redline and it should stay in the power band! if you hit limiter while you race it will not brake the car you will just loose time and might loose a race unecesarely doing so.. but if your car is on running tempreture you can gun it anytime! its a BMW mate build to last! the limiter is there to help you to not brake the engine! but if you stand with your foot on the gas reving it in the limmiter for periods of time then you looking to brake something!

also when you fill up your car the next time! Gun it every time its on running tempreture! and you will feel it come alive after 200km.. its a self learning ECU that adapts your driving style.. so moering it a bit will make the timing and fueling more agressive!

LOL this is too funny man lmao lol

oh ya for my two cents, same thing happens to us with the M, just dont let it bother you. we bought the monster for pleasure not for racing.
