Once criminals have decided on the house they are going to hit and have planned their entry, it takes on average 30 seconds for them to get in, they dont care how much noise they make and how many alarms you have, they are getting in. See if you can wake up, decide that the shit has actually just hit the fan, find your safe keys, retrieve your firearm (which you probably not trained with in years) and engage the assailants "Accurately" in that time.

I agree. A lot of the time people co-operate with robbers and people still end up raped and slaughtered like animals. I know the law is very strict when coming to firearms and people being killed, however if there is any other way to defuse a situation without the use of a firearm, then rather go for that. Other wise, as a wise man once said, "SKIET DIE BLIKSEMS!!"

Media makes a big story about it being barbaric and so forth but I feel its justice served. Some time ago I spoke to a retired teacher who lives in the township, he said the guy who broke into his house & stole his TV was released the same day police arrested him. Sometimes playing along could end up making you an untouched victim walking out of the scenario without your car , and that's pretty much all that matters . I actually have to say if you don't try playing by the criminals way from the beginning and bargaining for your life you just telling the criminal to shoot you stupid head off . Rather try then be sorry . Some of you guys attitudes are just no brain methods . :nonono:

mob justice? we know how that can spiral out of control and innocent people can get hurt. mob justice is something malema would vote for as he can brainwash a crowd to carry out mob justice. definitely not a civilised solution. chopping peoples hands off etc is also a bit uncivilised. sure the perpetrators are uncivilised but i'm not.
as for the media being to blame for giving criminals ideas, i dont believe that either. the criminals already have all the ideas. dont kid yourself. they may be braindead in a lot of ways but they do know what they are doing. i would prefer that the media inform us like this article did so that we are both aware rather than just the criminals.

It is all a load of bullshit when a pistol is pointed at your face , those seconds you think of everything yet you cannot think . I got out alive but it could have been different , I may have survived a shoting with the brain function of a Zimbabwean leader .
Yes my safe is locked , I will be deur die kak at 2 in the morning , but I think there are so many killings that I would go down fighting .
At least you can buy a good pellet gun pistol for about R2K ( like a Umarex etc ), it looks like the real thing and with good pellets ( lead pellet with steel or hard metal insert )will cause injury , under the pillow it will sleep !!
