M60B40 and B30 404 DME

Does anyone know if we ever got any M60 powered cars locally that came with the 404 DME or did we just get them with the 484 DME?

I am pretty sure it has a DME.

Seriously - From my little research, it seems like the '95 cars came with the 484 DME paired with EWSII

Edit - Sorry, but I mixed up the 2. Seems like the 404 had the primitive EWS1

Think I will just have to pull mine out and have a look, but as far as I know all the M60's from 1/95 on came with a 484 DME with EWS II where the earlier ones came with the 404 DME without EWS II.


Don't actually have a problem with mine....just staring to do some research for future plans.

Basically the idea behind the 404 DME is that you can delete the sync between the EWS and the DME which means you can swap out the DME like you could do on the earlier e34's.

Well mine is a 11/95 so I would think that it has the 484.


Will probably just pop over to Uber's and have a look at his 540i's DME as he has the earliest 540i that I know of.

484 DME is M62 non Vanos found on E38/E39 early models
404 DME is M60 on E32/E34/E31

I have both in stock

Out of interest how much would you be looking for a 404 DME? That is if you are willing to ship of course.

The 404 DME is also allegedly compatible in the S50B30 provided a chip swop is done from original 075 DME as per a Pelican Parts article. Both DMEs apparently run the same Motronic 3.3 system. Posting from my phone now but will update with link later. The article shows compatible DMEs and I even learnt that one of the Porsches has the same DME as the S50B30 but I suspect with a different chip.

I have a silver label 404 DME that I would like to have the EWS flashed off. Any idea who can do this. Sorry for thread jack. If not I am happy to part with it.
