1 Place key in ignition and turn to detent 1 and count for 10 seconds ( only position 1 do not start the engine. )
2.Turn key back to 0 position and count for another 10 seconds
3.Now turn the key all the way to detent 3 to start the engine
Guys, please excuse my ignorance, :fencelook: but which is detent 1?
Is it the first turn of the key where the clock and radio comes on, or is it an extra turn when all lights are on, just before the start ?

Turn your key to the 1st position before the lights come on:thumbs:

It does work - sometime ago I tested this on my Wife's E46, but did not tell her anything, just asked her to take the car for a drive and see if she notices anything different. She did!

Should be a change on a tuned also, well on my Audi with SW and some other Mod's the resetting of the Throttle adaptions did make a difference.

I'm taking possession of my car in 7 days, I will make a before and after video

The car was owned by an old man so it should be quite lazy!

This reset thing works but I stopped bothering as the throttle re adapts very quickly. So if you do a bit of gentle traffic driving etc the reset doesn't last long. Annoying.

Ah bugger. Thanks.

I wonder if the stealers can do something about it. Surely one can have the throttle adaptations reset there?

Won't make any difference except they'll charge you to do it. Results will probably be the same

Yep, the difference is usually marginal, but worth resetting it every now and again. As said above, the problem is that it re-learns so quickly no matter what you do. So ultimately just a case of getting used to it.

Will let you know man!

Or driving it like it's stolen for another 100k kms

Of course I would never condone such behaviour.
