M42b18 upgrade

Hi guys,

After much disappointments i have finally got my hands on a M42b18(318is) replacement motor for my M43b16.

The big Q is will it work?? I have managed to get it complete with gearbox, loom, ecu and exhaust manifold hoping that it would be fitted as a whole unit making it easier and hopefully quicker!! :rollsmile:

Further more would any tuning be advised??

If so where should he start?

Decat?
Chip?
Software?

And what would be the expected gains?

Any advice would be appreciated

Yes it will work, drop it all in and turn the key. I did the same when I replaced my M40B18 for a M42B18.

Only thing you missing is the exhaust which is different to the 8valve one.
