Thanks very much!

I'll go through the list of what I considered and test drove:

R8 V10 - Absolute monster of a car and still sexy. Interior is somewhat outdated (I had 2 S3's and the interiors were pretty much identical to the R8's interior), technology is outdated and with all the V8's running around I just didn't think this car was special enough to pay 1.3 bar for it second hand. The lack of 4 seats also swayed me.

911 Turbo 997.1 - My dad owned one and back in 2008 When I first drove it I loved everything about it. Over the years the car's appeal has dwindled for me. I drove one again 3 months ago for 2 weeks straight and after the 2 weeks I was confident that it was no longer the car I desired. The interior is VERY outdated, the turbo lag is extremely annoying and even though there are backseats they are practically unusable. Next to the new model it looks dated.

GTR - This car is just mind blowing. If it's outright performance you're after then there is nothing better in this price range. It's scary fast. As an overall package though it leaves much to be desired. The interior is fair (a bit too much cheap plastic for my liking)....the gearbox is clunky in normal daily driving...this car is built to be driven hard and fast, so when you're not doing that it feels a little out of place and awkward. Also the new model isn't too far away.

E92 M3 Coupe - I traded this car in on the M4...I loved my M3, but I can tell you there is nothing I miss about it after having had the M4...perhaps the only thing I will miss is thrashing it's high revving engine...the M4 feels flat at the top of the rev range whereas the E92 felt like it wanted to keep going. The sound of the V8 is awesome and I preferred it to the sound of the M4.

Cayman GTS - it's gorgeous...and on track its extremely capable...but I just couldn't live with the lack of power and again the lack of 4 seats swayed me. There is a Cayman GT4 on it's way and that will be extremely tempting and I may consider trading the M4 for it.

Ferrari 360 Modena F1 - this was the hardest choice for me to make. The Ferrari although old still oozes sexiness. The car is outdated and the gearbox is sluggish compared to what we get nowadays, but I was willing to live with all of that. What swayed me was the lack of 4 seats, the price of servicing, and ultimately the lack of clean examples on the market. From a financial perspective this would have been the best buy...it's value is holding strong now. With the M4 I'm going to take a huge knock.

Feel free to ask me any other questions...there are a few more cars I considered but the list would be long lol...

Hi,

Thank you for an amazing reply. Exact same taste lol. No matter which cars I looked at, the M3 makes such an argument. It ticks all the boxes. I did read up on the Cayman gt4, sounds awesome but I'm sure the price tag will be extreme and for a small car doesn't justify the assumed price range.

Funny enough the v8 4door also crossed my mind, hot looks, practical, rare, still on plan, sound, etc. Just as you mentioned, also dated now with the new shape. I think I will be seriously considering the new M3/4, thanks again, you reply really helps

Nice...:praise: I think I might have seen your car at Clearwater BMW last week or so. I think that might have been your car in the background.

There was also this white M4 with orange seats I was keen on buying.

I also saw two M4 Convertibles. They seem to have quite a collection of M cars. Enjoy the ride.

Awesome ride and choice bud
I was gonna sk where u stay but i see its Umhlanga, the reason being there is an M4 in my street in Ruimsig close to clearwater, same colour aswell.
Unfortunately i cant praise Clearwater as you do, ive had nothing but hassles with them, so bad in fact i said straight that i will not buy another BMW.
And I have been going to them for the last 16 years and yet still managed to pee me off so badly

Enjoy the M4 bud and many happy miles :)

Yes that was my car in the background!

I loved the Mineral Grey M4 vert that they had on the floor...and they had a gorgeous black M6 on the floor as well! They really do have a nice selection there!

Congrats! That looks incredibly low. How do you manage in our excellent roads?

I basically drive at crawling speeds over speed bumps and up steep driveways lol...but on the normal roads its all good...

Hi guys!

Just a quick update after 5000km of ownership....I'm still hopelessly in love with this car :blowheart: It's gotten better and better as I've added a few more mods...

First off were the spacers....after the drop the wheels didn't sit well as they looked too far "into" the fenders....I went with Macht Schnell spacers for the M4....the quality of these spacers are top notch and they are powder coated black which works well with the 19" black rims on the car. I went 18mm up front and 15mm in the rear for a nice square setup...I've had absolutely no rubbing at all. IMO the stance looks spot on now. :cartel:

This picture below is NOT my car, but it was my inspiration regarding the stance I wanted and I now have the exact same setup...

On the tuning side of things I fitted the JB4 after the initial run in service and all I can say is WOW....I'm currently running Map 2 which is mild....unfortunately Map 7 requires better fuel and EWG control which at the moment has given some users trouble. I prefer to run safely within the limits.

One problem I must bring up is the complete lack of traction from a standing start and sometimes into second and third gear....this is even more evident with the JB4 now...I drive with MDM off (allows for a little more slide and less car nannies) but still the car cuts power every now and again when the wheels spin too much...I'm a little hesitant to drive with the traction completely turned off after seeing the video of the other guy loosing the backend so quickly. My solution to the problem is to eventually get myself a set of 20" rims and run wider stickier tires on the rears...probably a 305.

Thanks for reading guys and if there are any questions please feel free to ask away :coolShake:
