Hi guys.

A mate has an m4 which he doesn't drive daily.

Issue is he is going away and disconnected the battery.

So it cleared the memory trip computer time date etc..

So issue is he drove it and it felt jerky especially in 1st gear..
Only in manual mode though.. auto is ok..

I told him to drive car in auto for 20km and then try manual mode again..

He asked i post this as he wants to take it to bmw in case the software lost something....?

Anyone experience this... ive heard of guys resetting the gearbox to learn the new driver... is this what is happening?

It's busy re-learning the clutch bite point.

"he wants to take it to bmw in case the software lost something....?"

The software is hard written to eeprom memory. Doesn't get 'lost' when the power get's disconnected.

I think the longer he drives it in manual mode, the better it should get...

Cars hate standing. Especially special ones, like M models.

I would go with a trickle charger to prevent further problems

100% If the bra can afford the M4, the trickle charger should be a very good investment to keep that M4 alive while he is away and also a convenient way of leaving it while he is gone.

:withStu::withStu: tell him not to be such a cheapskate and get a good battery conditioner for while he is away.
