M3 e9x faults experienced?

Hi guys,

Ok the M3 see's it's MP ending later this year. I've never experienced any major faults, mechanically or electronically on the vehicle. The biggest claim was for the M-DCT controller when it was new but that was a quick fix with an upgraded part from BMW.

So anything I should look out for to send it in for whilst it's still under MP, possibly current/previous owners can share info on issues they had.

I don't want any major item replaced if it ain't a problem, because all you need is 1 stuff up by a techie and the car will have to go in again and again, unless it's a must do.

Mine I noticed very slight clutch shudder on take off, had clutches changed and and a slight grinding noise from the diff but only under full lock and when the diff was cold, had the diff changed other than that no issues:thumbs:

Although couple of guys say throttle actuators are prone to failure, also get them to make sure the vanos is 100%

Yup throttle actuators is a must.
Get both replaced if you can bud. I also had
An idle control issue when my throttle actuator packed up. I'm not sure if it's a common pair fault. But The actuators is quite an issue.

Oh and Damn pricey !!! So do it while under Mp bud :cartel:

Hey Ash M, both my M3's have had their diffs changed, and the E92 has has the clutch and vacuum booster changed, oh yes and the battery a few times, all cars were/are under 40k mileage, what is yours on?

I would get the shocks, clutch, throttles, and diff changed before the plan is up, if you plan on keeping it long and depending on if your is a pre-2010 maybe even the engine, those earlier ones were prone to bearing failures.

If you really took care of your car then you may be lucky and nothing will fail.

states have issues with injectors sometimes as well as the cylinder number 8(like there is an issue with that whole part of the motor not much to report since the still tryna figure it out(but don't be concerned about this as the company is a higher performance tuning company that is tracking the car in the gt series in usa and they finicky))

On 38k kms at the moment. Car is hardly used.

Not touching the bearings as I want to go the supercharger root later on so will probably do a low compression build whilst getting the bearings changed out.

Touch wood nothing major has ever failed. Only the gearbox controller when it was new, other than that it's just been normal services. Although the car doesn't get driven much, I keep saying this, it gets driven very hard when it does get driven. Been modified for over 4 years now. No issues whats so ever. An absolute gem to live with.
