M3 E92 Coupe Running HOT???

Hi there Guy's and GIRLS

Ok short version

My M seems to be running hotter than normal meaning you have the 100 mark in the middle and a dot to the right and 150 far right. Under hard driving conditions it runs on the dot. Under normal type driving just over 100 mark. On the track at BMW track day it runs over that dot and warning lights come on and the DCT box short shifts at lower RPM and does not allow you to down shift when using paddles. After a lap or so it cools down and you good to go again for 2-3 laps then warning again comes on navigation screen saying operating temp too hi and need to take it easy etc.

Now the car went into BMW dealer and they found that the radiatior, thermostat and regulator needed replacement cos the radiator was leaking?. This was now done after 2 weeks waiting for parts and today i tested the car quite hard and it runs up to the dot after 100 AGAIN so at the track it wont last once again.

You will ask me:

A/C on or off does not matter
The car is temperature feel wise running hotter as you can here fans going on the entire time even after cafe back type trips and feel the heat out of the car
DCT box was replaced 6000km ago
New Radiator etc
New oil for DCT box

What's the milage on the car? Have they changed the oil after the running-in service? That running-in oil is a totally different viscosity.

I don't really know what's going on, I'm not brave enough to drive that hard on my car:mmm:

If the cooling system radiator etc has been replaced then all i can think of is it being the oil cooler side of the system as the motor is very strong. And it is still stock yes as i cant touch the motor till this issue is sorted otherwise i get blamed.

Also I found this out:
http://www.worldcarfans.com/10703224692/new-bmw-m3-v8-engine-in-detail
Part that was interesting to me, that might be causing your troubles:
"...
Consistent and reliable oil supply even under extremely dynamic driving conditions
Two volume-flow controlled pendulum slide cell pumps supply the eight-cylinder efficiently with lubricant, consistently delivering exactly the right amount for the engine. Wet sump lubrication optimised for engine dynamics, in turn, ensures appropriate lubrication also in extreme braking manoeuvres. The entire system features two oil sumps - a small one in front of the front axle subframe and a larger sump further back. A separate reflow pump, in turn, extracts oil from the front oil sump and pumps it to the sump at the rear.

:pimp:
So might be one of those oil pumps as well, what do you think?

:pimp:
Check out this article/forum chat as well, might help... :dunno:

Defiantly the oil cooler, its prone to damage. Especially stone chips, have a look at it threw the center bottom grill in the bumper. Mine looks as if someones shot it with a BB gun, leaving the fins sort of pressed in and i'm only doing 20k. As for track days try taking out the little cover under the gearbox for better cooling, plenty guys do it this side in the kzn heat when using the car for drag racing.

Hey Ed, I think that's highly improbable, but you never know these days. The DCT box has it's now oil, oil cooler, etc.

Well we tested vs manual and the manual runs alot cooler than the dct and the guy's over in Germany all have larger oil coolers on there track cars because of this issue.

The engine overheating might not be related to the DCT overheating. They do not share oil so first see what is causing the problem. Personally it might be the DCT that is over heating and lowering the rpms. How hard are you driving the car at the track?
