Ja. The pain is still sinking in. Was cruising on the N2 near Mosselbay. Oil light on. Smoke. and a tow truck later. Going to strip engine tomorrow and inspect, but will probably need a block. Going to try my luck with bmw as the have had issues with oil pump and big end failures. Problem: Its my wifes car!!!

motherDucker that is going to be eina.......

At what RPM did she let go...

Speak to MattQ, he might have some old rods, and might have some BMW spares as well :)

Maybe you can just resleave, or do you see the rod sticking out somewhere ?

Drop a couple of photo's of the strip... Sorry for your loss dude :(

ha. was cruising at about 150kph. Thats whats makes it so difficult to understand. I will decide what to do once I have stripped it. Not in the mood yet, but have to get it up and running again. At the moment , I just see alot of oil and metal on the belly pan.

Gonna follow up on that tomorrow quick. I worked for BMW for a few years and have some good connections still. HOPE not. There might be some light at the end of the tunnel .

No way to tell, I hope you can just get away with minimal, finding those motors is tough, and then phycotically expenisve...

Good luck with the BMW route, reminds me that I urgently have to do the bearings on my S62....

I agree with the conrod bolt failure have they opened the engine to change bearings before? they are supposed to replace the conrod bolts and not reuse

I have pulled the Motor plan history. Bearing recall was done. I am trying to locate the jobcard by the repair dealer, stripping engine tomorrow. Not happy. Big holes at NO1 and No3. RGM has a block. Might go for the 3.4L conversion, depending on the head condition. Otherwise, Lots of Captain Morgan to drown the sorrows!!!!

Just hoping the head has survived. Otherwise, IN the back yard for a while.
BMW quote 151k for a new motor. NOT going to happen.
