M3 3.2 ERROR CODE

Hi to all the technical gurus out there
I put my car on two different diagnostic machines and the following code was put out

on the launch:error code 162 camshaft synchronisation

on the bosch:A2 Sync. camshaft to cranksaft signal improbable

could someone please explain to me what this means
and what do i have to do to fix the problem

It sounds like the camshaft position sensor is faulty.
Does the car now and then change exhaust tone or loose a noticeable amount of power?

Its a very common problem and is normally fixed by changing out the sensor. Your car only has one sensor and the newer S54 has 2. Give the dealer a call and see how much it is. I do not expect it to be more than R1500 but you never know these days.

Just noticed now its a 3.2. Try swop them with a buddy before you go out and buy. Also check to see that the plugs are in good condition, might just need some contact spray to clean them.

had same problem with my car. the intake cam sensor was caput, resulted in loss of power below 4500rpm.
