M240i Mods

Good Day Fellow Fanatics

I'm a new member on here and I'm glad to be on here, I look forward to many good discussions with all of you on here. In November last year I traded in my F30 320i m sport which had about 104k on the clock for something faster. At first my eyes were set on a Golf 7.5R, even ended up ordering one in black. However, things changed after I test drove the M240i Lci, I immediately fell in love with that car and I ended up cancelling the 7.5R and taking delivery of the M240i instead which was a demo with only 1500KM on the clock and it also had all the extras including the adaptive headlights. It's been 6 months down the line ever since then and I absolutely don't regret my decision at all, I love the car, even though I would have preferred the M140i instead, I can't complain about anything. The power on the B58 is amazing, but I feel it might be time to do a few mods to it for more power. Stock I have beaten an N55 M2, but I lost terribly to an RS3, and yes I know he had awd and I don't, but I feel I can do a few mods to get my car to that level. I've been thinking either JB4 or BM3, even racechip. First thing that comes to mind is warranty and motorplan if I mod it, and yeah I got a full 5 years left of it. What do you guys suggest I do ?

If the car is still under motorplan, then i would not suggest doing any modification to the car, as this will void warranties and cause you some endless fights/hassles.
Besides the troubles of having to remove the parts and refit the stock parts back on the car whenever you want to take the car to the dealers .

If you dont care about motorplan, then i would suggest the following:

- Downpipe
- Upgraded Fuel Pump
- Software flash (Bootmod3 or MHD)
- XHP Gearbox Software
- Upgraded Chargepipe (required if you want to do a water meth installation)

A quarter of the guys will tell you that you will be fine and won't be detected during normal service whether you have a piggy or flash. They will then fight amongst themselves over which is better for cars under plan because they 'have never had a problem' with their JB4 being detected...

A quarter will tell you that you are trying to use BMW as your racing sponsor and that you're affecting the cost of their motorplan renewals #ModsByVisa #CarByWesbank #MaintenanceByMotorplan

A quarter will tell you that if you care about your plan at all you shouldn't do it because BMW will definitely detect it immediately and even if you remove it. Don't even breathe near JB4 Units or ENET cables just in case you exhale near your car and the plan gets cancelled.

A quarter will tell you that you that you only live once and that you shouldn't care about plan #PayToPlay. Tuners will tell you it's a risk you take.

None of those with 'bombed plans' will chip in but they will DM you or whatsapp you.

Let's see how many of those come true LOL

yano - try to avoid the crowd that swears that its 'UNDETECTABLE'. Their intelligence is undetectable.

I guess so, because its easier to dectect things these days, as tempting as it is to mod it, its never worth losing the plan because parts are really expensive. I think the only thing that would be safe to do is an exhaust most probably.

Very true, thats how it is these days, people will tell you different perspectives. But at the end of the day, I think all of us on here know that BMW will eventually detect the mods, its just a matter of time. But Its definitely not worth the risk losing the motorplan and warranty no matter how tempting it can be. I guess the car is already fast as it is, I mean 250kw is a lot of power thinking of it. But I think I'll stay stock for a while then, maybe an M performance exhaust can be an option.

I put the MP Exhaust on mine and it really made a difference in the experience, no real performance difference that I felt.
I should definitely recommend putting that on.

Hi, just had the M Performance exhaust fitted on mine this afternoon, sounds great. Thanks to Nivs and Havashen at ABM for the great service as well.

Congrats. The B58 is great and is unquoted in terms of its power. However, they have been know to trouble and many engines (cost around R250k) have been replaced even without any modding. I would not jeopardize the MP for this reason alone.

I've heard a few incidents about them, thats also why I asked about mods before doing them and not knowing a thing. But for now I'll remain stock for a while, I just wouldn't know what problems to expect at a later stage with the b58 though. But I'll deal with it as time comes. Really enjoying the car though, inline 6s are an absolute pleasure to drive.
