the 2 series looks good in those shots. the merc looks ugly, but on the road it looks good.
bmw really need to extract more power out their engines. we all know they are more than capable of handling more.

After seeing the CLA in the flesh and previous pics, I can surely say that it looks crap. The front they did 75% right, the rear, 95% WRONG!

I think the Merc looks better in pictures than in the flesh.
The Merc commands a much higher second-hand premium than does the Beemer.
Funny that comment about BM needing to extract more power out of it's engines. The *45 is now the most powerful 2L production engine avilable. Bar that, my impression has always been that, pound for pound, BM extracts more from it's engines than other OEMs do.
Considering the 'pound-for-pound' proviso I think MY impression is bourne out.
Further, I have have seen some negative comments about the Merc 'box. Add the superior BM suspension to the mix and I believe that the BM is an all-round superior product - price/performance/drive-train.
The nominal 0-100 time differences are fit only for drunken bar debates.

The CLA looks as if a bus knocked a CLS from the back. Its ugly, saw a CLA 200 the other day, the rear end really lets the car down.
Now to the 2series, why can't we have that front on the 1series? :inlove:
Not embarrassing. BMW has always had a jewel with their inline 6s. So why change it? The extra power will come with the M2, if they ever release it.
The Merc's boosting 1.8bar, the BMW is boosting in the region of 0.7bar stock. Now imagine the BMW boosting at 1.8bar?
Now to the 2series, why can't we have that front on the 1series? :inlove:

watch the M235i fly ahead on a rolling run. its lighter and wont suffer from AWD power loss.

I think both are horrendous and would only drive them if their windows are completely dark

CLA looks better IMO! I'm not a fan of sedans so prefer the 1 vs the A, and still A > 1. Grew up on brand Merc so not biased there:fencelook:

Stuck with a CLA 220CDI last week in the old tractor, it kinda looks cool I guess.. But yeah the 2er does it for me! F22 FTW :thumbs:
