M235i - First Mod, MPE

Good evening gents,

Hope all is well and you are enjoying the eased lockdown.

Thought I'd share my first mod with the fellow fanatics.

Purchased the MPE from a fellow member just over a week ago. Plan was to have it fit at an approved BMW repair shop/dealer, but only one out of 4 shops I had emailed replied.

Then tried one other exhaust shop which had a story about not being able to quote over the phone.

Then, my YouTube quest began.
1st - Deciding "this doesn't look too hard" followed by purchasing the MPE clamping bush from BMW.

Next - 3 days later, received the clamping bush and went to the hardware to purchase the rest of the tools.

That same evening I was determined to get it done. Despite my forearm going into spasm at least 3 times, a few hours later it was finally done!

Honestly, allot easier than I thought it would be

Enjoying the look the look of the boot spoiler.
Only sticky (/ not sticky) part is the double sided tape didn't hold down the inside of the spoiler properly.
Slight gap, plan to fill with black silicone - Did it myself, so dont want to remove and refit in a hurry.

Bud,

Consider removing it and rather fitting it with SikaFlex...then tape it down and then never have it lift or move again...did the same with my F20 spoiler, the double sided tape was useless...removed it and used SikaFlex...done deal!

Yeah i would not put silicone on a car, i think Sikaflex and also 3m has a good tape, not sure the name.
Mine is on for 6.5years and hasnt moved a bit.

Also well done with the DIY MPE fitting.
its not so difficult. once you jack up the car, jack stands, and install the bracket, next time will be easy.

Sikaflex is good stuff also and its used to Secure windscreens and even build canopies without rivets.

U can also use Gorilla Heavy Duty Tape, available from Builders warehouse and the likes

Thanks for the advice @AshG108 @BeemerFanatic @Danny@DSCmotorsport .
Will get some sikaflex this weekend and restart mission

Thanks Beemerfanatic, hardest part with the MPE was the manual pipe cutting. It is fun to do yourself, and get a little closer with your ride

Always a pleasure bud! Its tedious to remove the 2 way tape etc but once sika is used...the fitment is perfect!
Good luck, keep a heater close by with the dropping temps lol

Long time since I've been on this site.

That sounds so mean! Wow nice.

edit one: :fencelook:  I was a little worried on getting a spoiler due to differences apparently between the F22 and F23. Where did you order yours from? And was it specifically for F23?  :fencelook:
