Update....
Assembled the front struts with new shocks, H & R springs new hubs with new wheel bearings and the new discs. Will put the cailpers on when I assemble the front suspension, still waiting on LCA's to arrive. The bump stops basically disintegrated in my hands when i removed them. Anyone know where you can buy new bump stops from? Cant seem to find them.... Have left them out for now....
Pistons and rods went into the block and torqued up. I hate the torque setting.... 20N.m and then 70 degrees. most half inch drive torque wrenches start at 30 or 40N.m and even some of the 3/8 drive ones start at 30N.m........ what a pain.. And 70 degrees.... how do you do that without a torque angle gauge? At least you can do 90 degrees by eye.... anyway....
Cyl head also went on and torqued up...
So i think next is to install the front struts onto the car when the LCA's arrive.... so that will be the front suspension and brakes done. Then all the ancillaries can go on the motor. I think thats the plan for now. Oh and i also stripped the entire rear suspension off the car... diff carrier and all. But i dont have pics of that.
Will keep you guys updated... need to clean up things as they go back on but will take some pics as i go. Prob paint the block first.
Please let me know if you know where i can get bump stops for the shocks... in Cape Town.

Some more work done....
This is the modification that needs to be done to the crankshaft. You have to machine an extra piece to fit on the front of the crankshaft for the front crank seal to fit over.
Block unpainted and painted
New seals, waterpump, tensioner and cambelt
The tappet cover isnt on yet because I want to have it painted still. Took the tie rods ends off and all the brake hoses. Would love to go with steel braided lines but I think that would be another couple of grand... will maybe wait until i upgrade the brakes at a later stage. So just replacing the rubber lines with new ones. Rear suspension getting the same treatment as the front. New bushes, wheel bearings, hubs (if i can find out where to get new ones), brakes , shocks and springs.
Still a really long way to go but starting to feel like i am getting somewhere....
