M135i Purchase

I am new here and have been doing A LOT of lurking over the past week.

So I have been reading a lot and getting all the info etc etc.
I am getting rid of my G6 GTI DSG and looking to replace it with a 1 series.

At first I was looking at a 120D, then it went to a 125i and now I am at the M135i. ( All F20 )

I would have preferred a demo model but they all seem to be at the 499k mark. I have been offered a new one for 505k. It has PDC, sunroof HK sound, xeons, comfort pack etc.

I only keep a car for a year usually. I have not bought a new car in a long time as you always take such a knock but at 505k it doesnt seem like a bad idea?

No one can seem to help me make up my mind haha.

Pretty different cars there what is attracting you to each? I suppose the economy & performance balance of the 120d? But then you say 125i?

Personally, I would go M235i or a 135i

Haha I know,they are totally different cars. My GTI is modded and around 230kw. I dont drive fast anymore as the speeding fines etc. So I was thinking well the Diesel has awesome torque and will probaly be easy to sell in a year.

Then I got into and started the M135i and wow. Sounds so sweet!
I dont want a Coupe as it puts you out of the market with certain buyers as two door... Like I said, I only keep cars for a year or two.

Well if it's the sound of the m135i you like (electronically synthesized might I add, but then again so was your GTI if I'm not mistaken), then I don't think you'll enjoy the 120d anywhere near as much!

The right specced 1er coupes seem quite popular to me in the second hand market, especially the 135i's. The feel of the coupe feels more "balanced" to me compared to the hatch (in terms of weight and handling). Reviews I've watched also mention this when comparing the m135i and m235i.

Good luck with your decision if I was just choosing between the two, I would take the M135i

M135i; You won't regret it. I'll buy it from you in a year's time for R505k*0.6 :rollsmile:

Haha. Realistically i would expect to get about 450 in a year. List is 576k according to the quote.
Not sure if that is realistic? I dont know these cars at all

You will love the Power, even if you dont speed....
Performance Kit from BM was around R20k last i checked.

if you going to take a 120d you going to feel like you downgraded.
take a M135 for a test drive and have a better idea of what the car has too offer.

M135 or 120d, two very different choices in the F20.

You seem to be stuck between Performance vs Economy.

Based on your dilemma, I would suggest the 125. Sits smack down in the middle of both, Good performance and good consumption.

I have a 125 and average between 8-9l/100kms mainly traffic driving and it does have enough performance when I want to have a little fun.

There is a 2013 M135i manual at Vereeniging dealership 6000km on clock for R429000. This car has probably lost as much value as it is going to.Seeing you only keep a car a short while might be something to look into.

Must be an auto hey. Cant sit in traffic with a manual anymore. Looked at a 125 but its neither here nor there. Is the 135 that heavy on fuel?

Check the m235i it's good n all u need is sport spec sun roof and Xenon lights it works out to r550 new
