M135i Motorplan extension or not

I'm looking to buy a 2014 M135i with 73000kms and the motorplan is up until the end of the year. I got a quote for R36077.54 to extend to 110000kms or until end of 2019.

Is it worth it? Is it that expensive to service this beast from the pocket? If yes does it justify spending R36K for 1 year extension only to take the car once for service.

Please advise

Shop around, try different dealerships. That does seem excessive, my e82 cost me I think, around R12k for my extension.

Hi

Looks like you buying time and kilometers. Depending on the mileage you do you may not need to buy the kilometers (7x xxxkm currently)and just the time would cost you less.

I extended on my F10 and bought kilometers which cost a lot more than time.

I was quoted R19 000 on mine.
But i dont think ill be taking them up on it - The car is very reliable as is and the service costs for a service shouldnt cost more than R2000.

I think issue is not the service cost, its the peace of mind that if anything major breaks you'll be covered. R36k is excessive though. Just get a quote on extending time.

that's exactly what i was hoping for. But did you extend with time or kilometers because I saw the other responses that you can actually choose between kilometers or time.

thanks for the response, I will check with the dealer.

was that also for extension based on kilometers? or time?

R2000 for a service where? Are you talking about dealership service or aftermarket service centres?

Mine was for 12 month extension so in essence time.
Exact cost was R19499.70

Well Oil and oil filter changes are usually around R1100 at most BMW dealerships. If you looking at things like pads etc then that would obviously cost more...but air filter's etc you can do yourself and just have BMW do oil and oil filter for service history.

It also depends if you planning on selling your car anytime soon. I decided im keeping mine for the long haul seeing as if i want to replace it i am looking at R600 000+ to get something similar new...

With regards to peace of mind should something break, they dont spontaneously explode at 101 000km...but if something does break down the line it would be a good thing to have an aftermarket warranty like Hollard or similar.

Guys, can you please share the names of these dealerships where oil service is R1100. :fencelook:

These specials are on and off. You will have to just keep checking around. I had mine done at Auto Glen towards the end of last year.

You cannot shop around its a set fee from BMW SA. since you did yours its had about 10 price increases.

Hey Buddy,

Would you be interested in the M135i (which has muuuch less mileage) that I posted for sale earlier this week?

https://www.bmwfanatics.co.za/showthread.php?tid=85920

I think the deal is in validation stage at the dealer.

And I drive a lot in traffic from pta to jhb(midrand) so I prefer the auto gearbox but manual is still King. And I will be alternating with the wife and she doesn't like the manuals that much. GLWS otherwise.

My 135i e82 is coming up for expiry in October 2018
Asked for a quote to extend
They gave me till 120 000 for a whopping price of R53 000 inc vat and some change...53 frikken K
I sent the car in to have some stuff done
Changed water pump, radiator a few seals and brakes all around
Wondering if it is worth while to extend
Also had clutches done on the box as well, nothing really more to do on this car
Only had the issue of where the car was taking coolant (water pump) but other than that no issues what so ever
