On the M135 you have the option between RFT or Non RFT High Grip tyres.

Why does BMW not offer this to any BMW model ? :argh:

Nope. CH made the same point when he tested the M135i at Killarney, stating that in Europe their cars had better, grippier non RFT tyres.

Seriously, I was going through the option list just now and was WTF ?

Where does the NON RFT damage the suspension BS fit in now?

And its a no cost option, So they take out the more expensive RFT's at no cost to you. :biglol:

The reviews on RFT v NON RFT is that theres a ride difference.
I had them on the X5 and dont on the M3.

Living in SA...I wouldnt want to be at the side of the road changing tyres at 10 pm.So,Its a no brainer...RFTs for you my friend

Re the EU having better RFT tyres.....Mmmm,not sure about that and its the first im hearing of it.

He didn't say better RFT, he said:
"In Europe their cars had better, grippier non RFT tyres."
ie the option to take non RFTs instead of the normal (crappy) RFT

hi guys,

New to the forum, but i have some info on this, as I'm rather keen on detail (!): been shopping around for a new M135i, and noticed the tyre discrepancy at Auto Atlantic, CT. As the reviews and tests online all state fantastic handling, partly due to the "grippy" and bespoke tyres in the form of Michelin PSS's, I was confused to see the stock of M135i's at AA are all equiped with Goodyear Eagle RFT's. I dont think the sales person knew about any option to have the original Michelins fitted. It would be interesting to find out if this is a dealer specific decision, or if BMW SA have taken a position regarding RFT's etc.

Most interestingly though, is that the profile sizes are different to the Michelins?!

Michelin Pilot SS:
Front 225/40/R18
Rear 245/35/R18
Goodyear Eagle:
Front 225/45/R18
Rear 245/45/R18

If anyone can shed any further light on this, it would be much appreciated.

BTW: In the January 2013 edition of CAR, the Megane RS265 beat the M135i around Killarney by about 0.1 seconds. Perhaps it would have been a different story with the proper tyres fitted!!
