hey guys

My car has been feeling really down on power lately, its booked in to go for a checkup tomorrow at bmw. Is there anything I should ask them to look for in specific ? A few days ago the fan came on and it was really loud this was on normal driving not sure if the issue is linked

Took my bro for a spin he even says it does not feel the same as before, last time i went to kar it made 211wkw. Car is bone stock

Stressing now :thumbdo:

If bmw says they can't find anything wrong I will take her to kar again to see what power she makes

This is a common prob on 2014 models. Loss of power and then the fan on full blast, have a read on babybmw .
Dealer should sort it out , it's dme related iirc.

This. Hope you come right Treschen. You got me into this beaut of a car! I read all likely issues with the car. Limp mode was one of the top for 2014 models. I'm crossing my fingers it won't happen and after 1600km so far so good. Let us know what the dealer says. Don't let them BS and say it's a natural characteristic. ITS NOT!

Hey guys

I also have a m135i where the fan has come on and sounds like those ones they use at the Dyno :roflol::roflol:
Haven't experienced power loss though. Do our dealers know about this? Is it something to be worried about.
Also a 2014 model

Yeah the same
But rather embarrassing from a new car

I know and problem is it is too much trouble to take it to bmw to try and figure out, i guess it comes on because its a safety measure and bmw would not install a fan for nothing

The F20 M135i that i had was an April 2014 car and also did this. The only way to switch that noisy fan off was to switch off the ignition.I actually used the hidden menu to see what was going on with the temps of the water and oil and found that the fan came on at 116degrees on the oil and 106degrees on the water. From here i put the dyno fan on and sprayed water onto the radiator and intercooler. The temps of the water and oil came down to 74degrees and still the fan would not switch off on its own.
IMO these models must have faulty thermostats on the radiator,or the software controlling the radiator thermostat is incorrect.
My Feb 2014 F21 has none of these issues.

I dont know how to start my own thread/discussion/post lol so dont mind me crashing in here..

a quick query... i own a 1995 e36 M3 3.0 .. car is stock stock stock to the core.. i recently dyno'd it at the sibaya car expo and made 193KW.. now i been told that this power made on the wheels especially on rear drive cars differ to around 15-20%(more) on the fly wheel. can someone confirm this? Car is very very strong, shockingly 4 a stock M.

Hi

Anyone here manage to get bmw to resolve fan issue. Occurred on my 2014 today. Left home and 5 minutes later the span comes on as if it is taking off out of the engine. Only switch off and back on caused it to stop.
