M135i engine oil to use ?

Messaged popped up on my i drive saying top up engine oil with 1l, what oil do bmw use ?

Id go past BMW and buy a liter.

If Im not mistaken, BMW use Shell Oil.

Buying it from the Dealership will be cheaper than the Garage. Plus the bottle is pretty :roflol:

Take it to BMW, they book it in for 1 hour and its covered by MP. Did this with mine.

Happened to me once as well.

I bought Castrol Edge Titanium synthetic or something like that. Says on the oil filler cap BMW recommends Castrol.


Good to know MP covers this. The oil is pretty pricey.

All E90 and E82 will have Castrol on the oil filler cap, however BMW have changed over to Shell.

MP does not cover top up oil, OP may get lucky.

OP rather pay the R90 odd Rand and top up yourself.

I got lucky twice with my oil First oil top up motor plan will cover

my M135i has done this twice now even though im only approx 30 000km's, and both times MP covered the cost of the oil, according to BMW, it can use up to 750ml per 1000km's which is till acceptable..

Just book it in at a dealership....
